Excellent match between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh today. Never seen Raza be that destructive. Bangladesh still lacking a specialist hitter against pace in the death overs and Shahriar continues to flounder. Anamul Haque seems to be a huge domestic bully too.

At least they’ve got some semi useful contributions from Shanto and the skipper who had question marks over their places. Litton also is transitioning well into a three format star player.

Was thinking the same. The only possible reason I could see for them not pushing for Indian players might be to maintain that 'premium' of the IPL to keep its value up.

As regard to other players, you could well see them becoming contracted to a specific franchise group as opposed to national boards. They might have a pool of 30 players from different countries that switch between leagues depending on local players regulations.

The branding point is a good one. You look at major sports teams in the US or what football teams in Europe push towards, it's being that global brand (TV money, merchandising, expensive exhibition matches, matches in other countries). You might not be able to see CSK play, but you could see the Cape Town Kings or the Manchester Super Invincibles with their roster of talent. Equally, you might get a 2-week leg of the IPL player in another country as happens with the NFL matches at Wembley or like the Premier League teams were pushing for a 39th game ten years ago.

This one?

Apparently, what I said just last week, might be the direction cricket is heading.
Would't be surprised if the contracts were exclusive, and thus barred them from playing in the PSL and other leagues without IPL franchises-owned teams.

Get him the IPL

A good addition to English cricket-pretty sure he/his parent would have some links to the Kingdom. Fully expect him to play for England in CWC 2027 or earlier in the WT20 2026. Would be a formidable addition to the line-up that already features Buttler, Bairstow, Livingstone... :Cheersmate::laughter:

Good read.

I think Kimber called him the most adaptable T20 cricketer on the planet and I don’t disagree with that. He has fulfilled so many roles and reinvented himself plenty of times when most others have barely done it twice in their entire careers.

Wonder what would be the legacy of a player like him be. He does not have any strong connection to a side that will celebrate or venerate him and most West Indies fan are lukewarm about him these days given that he doesn’t play internationally. Twenty years down the line will he just be a statistical curiosity, a tale typed out on an internet article as the underrated and adaptable spin bowling pinch-hitter that only the nerds know? Or is there another twist in his tale yet to be seen?
