Rumors are flying at the moment. Will Justin Langer be joining Shane Warne & Glenn McGrath and retireing at the end of the current ASHES series? If it is true who would be the one to replace him? Jaques? Paine?
All I know is JL will be heavily missed from the Australian side. Let's just hope that this is only a rumor. :upray

If anyone has heard about this being confirmed please let me know.

I'm pretty sure that he will retire after this Sydney test. Remember him saying something about retiring a few months back, and I got the feeling it would be after the Ashes.

Wouldn't be surprised if Hayden joins that list too. Seems like the perfect time to retire for anyone.

Hayden seemed keen to keep going after his century (expecting many more battles with Hoggard) and before the Perth test, Langer said Martyn's retirement had motivated him to keep playing. Plus, Merv Hughes has said they've been taking steps to ensure a mass exodus does not occur. While Hayden and Langer could be replaced fairly quickly, five retirements would count as a substantially biblical departure.

Hayden won't go. I'll be a little supprised if he does.

Since Brisbane, it's been mainly downhill for Langer. In each innings since then I've been getting the feeling he wants to end it at the end of the series and he wants to save something for Sydney.

I think Langer will go, hes getting older and his form is not getting any better. Hes been inconsistent since the 2005 ashes. I don't think Hayden will go simply because he has got runs in this series and he doesn't seem like the person who would retire after scoring a lot of runs.

Doesn't Hayden want to play in the World Cup? Retireing now wont help his chance, so don't see that happening.

He missed three matches late last year with a hamstring injury, then essentially missed the final match in South Africa (facing just one ball) and the tour of Bangladesh. I'm not surprised it's been an inconsistent time.

He'll definatly go, The World cup is the nearest series/tournament and he doesn't play in the ODI's.

5-0 and a JL Century in his final innings would be the perfect time to go.
Along side the great warne and mcgrath.
JL's dad has publicly said his son will not hang around the test scene for the sake of it.
At this rate it will be Ricky Ponting, Hussey and Clarke x2 VS the World ;)

The paper has said he aint hanging around much longer, Hayden doesn't play ODIS but he said in inside cricket that he is aiming to make that WC squad

Hayden's been trying to get back into the ODI side since he was dropped. He played in the DLF cup and scored 49 and 54 and probably would've cemented his spot if he wasn't run out.

Everyone had a feeling that Langer would retire after the Ashes. If he doesn't plan to go til 2009 to be honest I think it will be best if he retires now. It will give us more time to find a suitable replacement. Whether that will be Jaques or Rogers. Definitely not Paine.

Hayden is definitely there abouts for selection in the ODIs, expect him to get picked for a couple during the summer. Have a read of the quote on the Baggy Green website. That will definitely give a hint that Hayden isn't going to retire.

Well Langer's gone now, looks like another opener will come into the scene as well.
