^^^ Good tests, but I only wanted to pick ones I had seen, so 1882 is out of the question, I'm not that old
. Ok here is my number one pick:
1. Pakistan v India, 1st Test, 1999 Chennai:
In how many tests have the likes of Inzy, Akram, Younis, Anwar, Tendulkar, Laxman, Ganguly and Kumble gone to war? Not many, but this is just one of the many aspects which makes this game so special, to both fans and neutrals.
A rout by India, getting Pakistan out cheaply for 238 runs, helped by the ever efficient Kumble, who twirled his way to 6-70.
Then it was Pakistan's turn, with Saqlain Mushtaq taking a five-for, ably supported by a beautiful opening spell from Wasim Akram. The lead was a tiny 16 runs and when Afridid came out to bat, he was a man with a plan.
A destructive 141, with 21 fours and 3 sixes, lead Pakistan to a somewhat commanding 271 run lead.
From then on, it was once again the Saqlain show, as he mesmerised some of the best players of spin the world has seen. Once again, Wasim and Waqar were reduced to nothing but cameos. Pakistan would win by 12 runs.
Oh, did I mention Tendulkar's century?
What a test!
