ICC Ban Sledging

The ICC has sent a letter to international match officials, captains and chief executives calling for support in their decision to outlaw personal attacks which are "obscene, offensive or insulting".

People really should read this very carefully before posting in here.

very bad idea by ICC, turning the spirit of game down. Not saying some of things these players say is as bad, but a MAN gotto do what a MAN gotto do, right?

What the hell are you on about? If anything these changes uphold the spirit of cricket. They may reduce the competitiveness, although that is a point I'm willing to argue about.

Hes talkin bout gay ass rugby league i think.
Perfectly described, i hate that sport. I actually don't think ive lasted a full game. Even when Melbourne was in the grand final, i lasted about 10 minutes before i got bored...

It is getting rather sooky-sooky-la-la. There's too much emphasis on the "spirit" and not enough on the heart. I mean, in what other sport is it considered unsporting to accept the umpire's decision? In how many sports is the capacity to overrule the umpire in favour of your opponent not only present, but considered by many to be proper? With the advance of technology certain to further penetrate the game, it's a world of it's own now and let's face it, there's not a whole lot that is even relevant to your average grade cricketer.

At the same time, verbal confrontations with your opponents are not exactly acceptable in all contemporary sports. For example, I know in basketball that you can get called for a technical foul if you have too much to say.

I fully support this ICC decision. Personal, scathing attacks aren't needed in sledging.
