England have the side and they have the conditions in their favor. It would be a huge surprise if they don't make the final and a surprise if they don't win it all. Either India or Australia might play them in the final (I bet on Australia who are surging at the right time, and should also be boosted by Warner and Smith return).

I feel India will stumble in the semis, just like in 2015. The middle order is a nagging block, and will likely pull us down.
I predict England will breeze through the group stage, but they'll be stopped short in the semis. I expect them to capitulate just like they did when Pakistan choked them in the CT semis.

I think Australia is yet a very strong contender for the WC. They've found their footing in their two last series and I'm backing them as one of the teams to win the WC. They might not even need Warner and Smith at this point with the form their batsmen are in.

If the management makes smarter calls and cuts down on the BS then India has a big chance to win.

Even if Smith and Warner doesn't return to the side Australia still looks a strong side in the Limited Overs format. As far as I remember Australia scored 300+ on 2 occassions out of 5 when they toured England back in June last year. So return of Smith and Warner even strengthens the side :thumbs

Shaheen in for Usman and Faheem in for Shoaib and then it's perfect.
Also, i feel Amir will be included at the expense of Junaid. Also, i feel Rizwan should go as a backup, but not in the 15.

Exactly 20 years later Britannia has bought back the good old ad campaign once again - "Britannia Khao World cup Jao".

Very much nostalgic after seeing the ad on TV.

Alright, it's that time again. The Indian squad I would pick for WC 2019.

Rohit Sharma
Shikhar Dhawan
Virat Kohli
KL Rahul
MS Dhoni
Kedar Jadhav
Hardik Pandya
M Shamii
Kuldeep Yadav
Y Chahal
Jasprit Bumrah
B Kumar
Vijay Shankar
Ravindra Jadeja
Dinesh Karthik

I have gone for Vijay Shankar over Rayudu. A little harsh on Rayudu but I feel Vijay Shankar can play a similar role to Rayudu plus he gives that extra bowling option and he is a very handy fielder as well.

I have gone for Karthik over Pant because I feel we will need Karthik's experiance for the WC and the limited chances that he has got in recent times, he has done his best in those chances. It is extremely harsh on Pant because he can be the x-factor player but I just feel that he still hasn't quite cracked the one day format as of yet.

A lot of Indian players have performed in their most recent IPL game, just in time before the squad selection. What a co-incidence, or is it really? :p

Anyways my India squad of 15 would be this:

Rohit Sharma
Shikhar Dhawan
KL Rahul
Virat Kohli
MS Dhoni
Kedar Jadhav
Dinesh Karthik
Vijay Shankar
Hardik Pandya
Ravindra Jadeja
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar
Jasprit Bumrah
Mohammed Shami
Kuldeep Yadav
Yuzvendra Chahal

Standby:
Umesh Yadav
Khaleel Ahmed
Ambati Rayudu
Rishabh Pant

I would take 3 allrounders (Hardik, Jadeja, Shankar). Shankar is a batting allrounder, who can bowl a bit. That gives him the edge. And he has shown that he can bat really well, especially top of the order or at the lower order when asked to go for the big hits. I choose KL Rahul over Ambati Rayudu because of the ability of Rahul to accelerate at a tremendous pace and being a far more agile person on the field and between the wickets than Rayudu (same thing applies for Shankar over Rayudu). Jaddu will be the third spinner behind Kulcha (Kuldeep-Chahal). I think 3 seamers plus Hardik is enough. India will mostly play only two specialist seamers and Hardik Pandya for most of the games. If an injury happens during the tournament, the standby's can be summoned in quickly to England.

Asela Gunaratne ? Or maybe Kusal Mendis or even Danushka Gunathilake is good. I think these guys are pretty much realiable match winners for Sri Lanka. I remember how 3 of them won a match in 2017 CT against us and how they smashed our best bowler (Bumrah) all round the park that day. But frankly SL Cricket is in real shambles :(:facepalm:facepalm
