All eyes on West Indies and whether they qualify or not! From simple understanding they should but the other teams like Ireland, Netherlands should give them run for the money.

This is interesting. Afg loose 6 wickets for just 53 runs. WI will be relieved.

This ICC world cup will be the most boring ever. Only 10 teams. Gah! Too sad we can't see teams like Netherlands, UAE, Zimbabwe competing.

West Indies are 107/9 ;) They just lot 4 wickets for 9 runs still requiring 33 in 11 overs.

Although this is just a warm up dreaming about winning the WC is a little far fetched goal from Jason Holder seeing they have to qualify first. I am pretty sure WI will qualify meaning only one other team will be able to join in and that could mean Ireland, Afghanistan any one could miss out or both could miss out I feel absolutely gutted. If not 16 there should be 14 teams in WC. Afghanistan and Ireland are now test playing nations and their WC dreams should not be questioned. There should 11 test playing nations with 3 coming in from these qualifiers.

That is it, Afghanistan win this. Well played boys! Good to see someone else then Rashid stepping up. This West Indies side was strong with the likes of Gayle, Holder, Samuels. Chasing 160 odd in 50 overs should have not been an issue. Well played!

I am shocked they couldn't chase 163. Glad to see the way Afghanistan is playing but the decline of WI is sad. Hope they bounce back.

Definitely, its really sad that countries like West Indies and Sri Lanka are on a decline. They have a wonderful domestic structure set but none of the players that come out look international material.

Its not the players but the management which has surely been the problem. Like for Sri Lanka, look at Roshen Silva. He had played over 100FC matches with an average over 50, when he came into the Sri lankan team. And he surely looked a class apart than regular Sri Lankan batsmen. My question, where was he till then? Why didn’t they bring him earlier. 100 FC matches are a lot.

This was the same problem when Sanga and Jayawardene were there. They held the positions at 4 and 5 and it was tough for a talented Sri Lankan batsman to break through. It's a bit odd they didn't bring him immediately after the duo retired. However, more than the management, the domestic structure is pretty poor. With that, there aren't too many good players because there are too many teams.

I think West Indies cricket spiralled when limitations were placed on international
cricketers in County cricket. The past domestic setup in WI offered very few test matches at the time and players werent able to move around teams due to the multiple independant teams making up WI. If you follow SA cricket of recent it seems their cricketers are also being affected by limits on county cricket.

I think the talent is still there, raw talent but its not being harnessed due to corruption the lure of T20 leagues. Names like Jofra/Darren Bravo etc. Had Alzarri Joseph been in the English or Aussie setup he wouldve never fell to the side, recall this guy in the U-19 cup?

Sri Lanka seem to have some developmental issues and it dont help when they are not financially strong because the way things are set the BCCI get the chunk of the cake whilst the others get the crumbs.

Even England are experiencing players leaning to T20 cricket and Australia are placing a high investment on the T20 format as well. Certainly test cricket/one dayers are close to termination. I mean T20 offers little technical skill as compared to test and one day, hence the low standards we are witnessing today.

Wow! Being a Lannister has certainly given a calmer stronger personality to you :p I agree with you with all the points.
