Grounds of India and Bangladesh are quite similar i.e. spinning tracks

----------

Bangladesh cannot even win in their "home ground" !! :lol

but again they are not the so called best team in the world :thumbs

Looking at the squads that have come out so far, I think Australia will be very hard to beat. They have nice blend of experience and youth, fast and spin bowling and powerplay hitters and finishers. However they do seem to be in the tougher half of the draw. Think Sri Lanka and New Zealand will be the Aussies main challengers. I've been very impressed with New Zealand lately, and Sri Lanka seem to win important games. Especially in familiar conditions.

As for England, I don't think we have a hope. Without Pietersen, we may even finish 5th in the group. Lumb, Hales and Wright isn't too bad as a top 3, but why we keep playing Root in the middle order is beyond me. Morgan and Buttler will have to have a stormer in order to get out of the group. Even if that does happen, our bowling is so bad it's untrue. I've supported Dernbach for a while now, but teams have definitely worked him out. His 4 overs are guaranteed to go for at least 45, so you're already on the back foot from that point. To make matters worse, Parry and Tredwell are very average spinners. It could be carnage.

Ok Pollard & Roach still injured. But some strange replacements.

Where is Young Bravo, Jason Holder, the now returned Jerome Taylor, batsman Jonathan Carter? Picking Charles, Fletcher, Cottrell is very strange. Then again i shouldn't be surprised, windies selectors don't pick too many smart squads.

Their 1st XI might be strong still.

----------

1. Martin Guptill
2. Anton Devcich/Kane Williamson
3. Brendon McCullum
4. Ross Taylor
5. Corey Anderson
6. Colin Munro/James Neesham
7. Luke Ronchi
8. Nathan McCullum
9. Tim Southee
10. Mitchell McClenaghan
11. Trent Boult/Roneel Hira/Kyle Mills

It'll be interesting to see what we do with our 2nd opener and our 4th bowler.

Squad still looks good - but If Vettori was fit & Ryder didn't cause himself to be dropped, then i'd have placed squad pretty much on par with with AUS have with regards to all-round strength.

Agree why why Contrell n Flecther. N since we got Dr Smith Simmons y Charles. Holder should be in for Contrell. Carter n young bravo in for flecther n charles. Would of been a better sqaud. But i HOPE they pick a good 11 n not a crappy 11 to start.

ICC World Twenty20 2014 : Zimbabwe recall Tafadzwa Kamungozi for World T20 | Cricket News | ICC World Twenty20 | ESPN Cricinfo

Zimbabwe announce their squad for the WT20.

I'd like to see a similar line-up to this one:

1. Hamilton Masakadza
2. Vusi Sibanda
3. Sikandar Raza
4. Brendan Taylor (c & w/k)
5. Sean Williams
6. Malcolm Waller
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Prosper Utseya
9. Shingi Masakadza
10. Brian Vitori
11. Tendai Chatara

I'd go:

Hamilton Masakadza
Sikandar Raza
Brendan Taylor - captain & wicket keeper
Sean Williams
Elton Chigumbura
Malcolm Waller
Shingi Maskadza
Natsai Mushangwe
Brian Vitori
Prosper Utseya
Tendai Chatara

Sibanda tends to take too long to get going. Chigumbura would play as just a batsmen, his bowling has been terrible. Williams would be the sixth bowler, he's shown he can bowl well in Bangladeh, and bowled well in the trial matches, plus the last domestic match.

It's a long tail, but they can all slog, and if we're five out, we're most likely in trouble anyway. :p

Good that the Indian selectors retained Yuvraj Singh for the T20's. Its sad that he has now been relegated to a T20 specialist, but if that helps him prolong his career, so be it. Yuvraj and Raina can do really well in T20's, more so this tournament which is held in the subcontinent. Pretty straightforward team selection otherwise!

Its more to do with SYMPATHY for Yuvraj. TBH, he has not really set the stage on fire since he returned to cricket.

They'll lose even to Bangladesh. ;) Your team can only win on their "home ground".

Bangladesh needs to qualify.

Well thats a first in any World Cup, seeing that the hosts are required to qualify for the main draw.:p

I disagree. Irrespective of what he has done in the ODI's, it is too soon to write him off after just one bad series. His last two t20 matches have been phenomenal. 36 ball 72 vs pak in dec 12 and 35 ball 77 vs Australia in dec 13. He won both matches single handedly. He averages 33 in T20I with strike rate of 153. That is consistency plus brutal hitting.
Moreover, he somehow gets himself going whenever he plays a big tournament. There is a reason why he was Man of the series in U15 WC, U19WC, T20 WC 2007, WC2011. :clap

Yuvraj's innings-yes-the two innings-yes.

But what after that ? Its the inconsistency that bothers me. He is unable to get going against major nations. Even his IPL antics since WC 2011 havent been great.

And since 2011, he has not even been a regular in the team. Well the selectors have selected him for the T20 in BD, I hope this is the last chance that is given to him.

Probably his chance to make a comeback! Take it positively,If Yuvi could perform well it would be a great plus.:thumbs

India-have no hope from them TBH. With that kind of bowling we'd be slaughtered by the major teams. Semi-finals is a tall ask for India.

Australia , on paper,is definitely the strongest. Their side has experience as well as power hitters and could be quite dangerous.

WI are erratic. But these conditions could suit them well. The likes of Gayle & Pollard shall certainly thrive in such an environment.

SRL is yet another team from the Asian block. Their history shows that they are capable of reaching till the end in big tournaments. But the inability to convert it into something big will always hurt them.
