2007 marked the inception of the inaugural Twenty20 cricket world championship, but what if it had been introduced earlier?
It was in 2001 that the ECB's marketing manager, Stuart Robertson, proposed a 20 over per innings game to county chairmen, who voted 11–7 in favour of adopting the new format, and thus T20 cricket was born, and this where we will begin the tournament, right after the turn of the new millennium, Pakistan being the host nation.

Ever wondered how past cricketers, such as the Zimbabwean Golden Era, the Kenyan eventual World Cup semi-finalists and arguably the greatest Australian roster of all-time, would have fared in the game's shortest format on the international stage? Well, wonder no more!

Kenya would be my first choice. If not, then maybe Netherlands, New Zealand or something.

South Africa please. Second and third choices would be New Zealand and the Netherlands respectively.

Decent response, 5 more managers and we can get underway with squad selection.

Quite enjoyed compiling player lists from 2001, a little trip down memory lane. Particularly interesting to see is the player turnover in the Windies ODI squad during this time.

Definitely a lot of players here that would've been well suited to T20I cricket had they been able to play.

Could I get a little greedy and ask for the Netherlands too? That is if you fall short. I know stuff about them after having done a thorough research for the '98 and '00 Knockout Cups.

Also, helpful as it may be to have someone like Michael Dighton in a Dutch squad, he's not really a Dutchman. He only played for them as an overseas pro in one of the English domestic comps of old, and is about as Dutch as Murray Goodwin.

Haha I'll see how we fare with sign-ups.
Damn, didn't realise that, thought he'd been selected as a Dutch international. Just thought it'd have been nice to give the Dutch a wider range to choose from. No bother, guess he'll have to be given the boot.

This sounds interesting, I'll give it a go. I'd quick like to go for England, if possible :)

@El Loco Can you please update the team list and managers so far so that it will be easy for new signups to know what all teams are vacant....
