Great start so far on the 2nd day so far 7 down for NZ the bowling looks fired up.

But the real battle starts now getting the lower order out the last 3 wickets has always been a thorn in the flesh for India in all the overseas tour.

That Catch by Jadeja has to be one of the greatest of all time! Simply stunning.

Fantastic comeback by India from 63 for no loss overnight to getting NZ allout for 235 although at one stage NZ were 153/7 but overall a great fightback so far now its all upto the batters for one final time in the series.

100 bucks says Jamieson won't be repeating the same heroics against any other nation that he has against us :p

Already 3 down in the 2nd innings and if this pair doesn't add at least a 100 from here on out, expect us to fold by 150-ish.

A reality check for India after having had tremendous success in the WTC. Test match very much in balance but I don't see us making use of the advantage.

And we have faltered once again. The game looks dead now. No chance India can win this. Once again the tail of opposition took the match away from us. Vihari might show some resistance and take us to as much as 150 run lead which the Kiwis would easily get to the target.

You know the failure doesn't lie in the fact that we didn't perform well. The failure lies in the fact that we just did not prepare well in advance for this tour. Any side that wants to succeed in Overseas Test series need to play atleast 3 warm up matches. Warm up doesn't mean a 3-day match which has no importance at all it must be atleast a 4-day game and not just that they need to play their best side just to get used to the conditions, the pitch and the weather. We just didn't do enough preparations and hence we had to falter. There is no shortcut to success but it is your hardwork which can get you through.

@Master Bates you made a point that we need to play Test match specialists but which specialist players were missing ?

We had a solid opening batsman in Mayank Agarwal who have scored couple of double hundreds at that position. We have a player called Pujara who can hang in around as long as the bowlers are worn out. We have a very reliable middle order batsman in Rahane. We have Kohli who is probably the best batsman in the world. Then we have a good lower order with players like Vihari and Jadeja. We have Rishabh Pant who averages more than 42 and has Test hundreds in England and Australia which none of the Indian wicket-keepers including Dhoni manage to do that. And to put the blame on Shaw is very harsh on him as he is still very young and have a lot to learn.

Coming on the bowling we have a 3-format specialist and a wicket taking bowler in Jasprit Bumrah then we have Mohammad Shami who can chip in with wickets time and again. Ishant Sharma is a Test match specialist bowler who bowled a brilliant spell in the last match. Umesh Yadav have improved a lot in this format.

It rather seems to be an excuse to get away with if we talk about not having specialist players in the side. We as a side are not used to playing in these conditions and what we needed is to prepare well in advance which we didn't do.

At least now there should be no argument whether Smith is a better Test batsman or Kohli!

Was this ever in doubt though? The closest Kohli came was when he followed that excellent South African tour run with nearly all time great levels of performance in England while Smith was banned. And Smith arguably outdid Kohli himself in England the following year.

That's not enough. There is a vast difference between Kohli and Smith. Smith has been plagued with a handicapped batting line up for most, if not all of his career. Yes, Warner is there at the top but he's in my opinion a flat track bully at red ball cricket. I have not seen him make a defining century in seaming or spinning conditions. Before Labuschagne, there was very little in that batting order. When you look at Kohli and the resources available at his disposal, the comparison is plain ridiculous. (It's also crazy how Williamson never figures in these discussions inspite of playing most of his cricket in the most challenging conditions!)

What you also need to see is how the likes of Pujara and Rahane for example have been treated. It was unfathomable to conceive they could have been dropped when they were and before Kohli took over from Dhoni as test skipper, Rahane was even ahead of Kohli in tests. There is no good reason for Vihari or anyone else to be our number 6 considering the way Nair was treated. Jadeja, who I have been weeping and shedding tears about for the past 2 years would be giving Ben Stokes a run for his money in the best all rounder category if he was part of any other international side, yet, he finds himself in and out of the side in all 3 formats. We have musical chairs with our keepers. Some days, Bumrah and Shami open the bowling while some days Ishant does. ANY other team in world cricket would have played KL Rahul now in these two tests but he's gone. FFS, the guy has made tons abroad. Yes, he was inconsistent but his growth since the WC has not been anything short of what Rohit or Kohli himself had in their time. Was there any good reason to give Rohit a go as test opener in the first place?

The AUS series win with Warner and Smith out was just a big smokescreen and the fact remains that with any other captain we should have won in England, SA and here as well. The team is there, the leadership and management is on weed.

Damn, that hit hard! Looks like gotta wait for Kohli to retire or India lose plenty of matches to get forced to change the management.

Kohli is just pathetic!! Send off to perhaps the best cricketer in the world in terms of behaviour! What a poor representation of our flag.

Getting excited to a wicket got termed as a "send off" by the media and you are here to post your view about it. That is just ridiculous. Is that something we really need to care about ? Were you present there on the ground?

He pretty much did give him a send off as is very visible from the images and video. You don't need to be on the ground to see it. By your logic, nobody who was not present on the ground can prove that the Aussies used sandpaper in Cape Town?
