Never knew that someone who posted regularly on these forums could be such a troll.

I don't think you should've said it like that. He is younger than us and has a different opinion from us. We can atleast try to understand him and try to convince him if in case he is wrong.[DOUBLEPOST=1567267344][/DOUBLEPOST]BTW why is the thread so silent about the series now. Looks the result of first match didn't go down well with people on this forum. Or I can say they are least bothered about this tour now ?

The tour threads have become so dull now as compared to the threads nearly a decade ago.

@NilayShah60 - There definitely is much lower interest in this series considering the vast gulf between the two sides. The way WI collapsed for 100 in the first test after India batted so well in that second innings, pretty much shows the gulf between the two sides. Somehow WI have not recovered enough to be considered an attractive opposition in tests. Yes they have good numbers at home in the last 2 years, but still there is a difference between numbers and the attractiveness of the opposition. WI are nowhere close to that yet.

I also see that in the first quote above, you have taken a subtle sarcastic dig at certain 'Kohli criticizers'. Honestly - yes there is also an element of disinterest over Indian cricket, that is growing among certain 'older Indian fans' who have followed Indian cricket since the early to mid 90's. And that could be attributed to this current Indian power setup of Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri and the way the power has been handed to them in a platter despite underwhelming results.

You know the more you think about it the more you would feel that things aren't going well. And in this we ignore things that are going right. Say for example Vihari's back to back fifties. Rahane's century, Jadeja's contribution all these were positive signs that we had during the last match and going forward this would certainly help the confidence going into the series against the Proteas at home.

Would rather say the Indian team TBH. Kohli plays for Indian team and to be critical towards the Captain and the best batsman of the team is a criticism towards the team itself.

Also can we try to focus on what is happening or is going to happen and why is it happening than thinking that this shouldn't happen ?[DOUBLEPOST=1567272654][/DOUBLEPOST]Ishant Sharma has batted beautifully in this series. I find it funny regarding how his career has spanned and especially how we have time and again discussed about India's weak tail. This is wonderful batting from him! :clap

This has to be the strangest comment I’ve seen in this thread and this thread has already seen someone calling for Rohit to be made to open for the next eight years.

In fact, this is an entirely dangerous line of thinking where the person in the limelight/most ‘powerful’ man in the room isn’t supposed to be criticised because it would reflect badly on the entire organisation, akin to how criticism of certain political leaders should be shunned as it would apparently be equal to criticism of the entire country itself.

As for the lack of interest in this series, it is clear that 90s fans would obviously not be as interested as they once were due to time, age and good old life. In addition, they were fans during the darkest days of Indian cricket, where fixing tainted it along with the lack of skilled players.

Compare that to now, where players who would have easily walked into the older sides aren’t even playing and yet we seem miles away from matching the feats of the great 2000s Aussie side despite having the potential to do so.

One thing I would like to add to that last para of yours - its going to become almost impossible in today's times to match the feat of the "Aussies of 2000's" or the "West Indies or the 80's". Competition is continuing to level out amongst the Top 5-6 sides in world cricket and I think it is not easy to find a side that replicates the kind of success of those invincible sides. Another thing that does not allow this to happen, is franchise T20 leagues, where players from all over the world play together as team mates. This means that, the no of secrets about the opposition keeps going down drastically.

On topic for this series - a very good half century from Ishant and a stellar knock from Vihari. To me, Vihari has cemented his spot over Rohit Sharma and Vihari deserves a consistent run in the test side. Whenever needed, he can even do makeshift opening duties as he showed in Australia.

On Ishant - there was once a time when he used to be a solid lower order bat. And then suddenly, his batting tapered off dramatically. It's good that he is getting his batting mojo back. In a team where our tail starts from 8, having Ishant bat like this is a huge bonus. We somehow need to work towards having a team that bats till 9 or 10.

In contrast to Ishant brilliant innings, good old Shami has now scored a total of 0 runs in the last 6 matches and has survived a total of 8 deliveries

Amazing considering he used to be the best of the lower order at one point in time and was expected to fill the role of someone like Zak getting valuable 15_20 runs every now and then by tonking a few in the stand
