As I mentioned before, unlucky for Rajasthan that Sanju Samson scored a century in the opening game. He is going to flat line now and will continue having his usual mediocre season now.

Basically he is just a 2 match player scores big in the first 2 out of the few games and then goes missing for the entire season.

Its pattern that somehow he replicated for the last few seasons.

Nothing against him a great player to watch when get going and would love to see him succeed but gotta be atleast consistent at the higher levels of the game which has been not for the no. of years now.

Can we get a big win here? Still questions around our batting, but would be awesome to get a massive NRR boost (already got it last game too, but bigger the better)

He's always been overrated. Harsha Bhogle's love for him is unbelievable. I wish I could pull out whatever he was saying when Pant was binned for him and how he laps up all the Pant adulation now.

The competition in India is so enormous now that guys like Samson and Shaw have always felt to me like "to be IPL legends."

They both have not evolved as cricketers and Shaw lacks maturity as well. Samson on that front is a finished product.

It's turning because of wickets getting tired. It is for this reason I feel CSK and RCB will be very dangerous teams as their spin bowling supplies are filled to the brim. It amuses me even more than in spite of their two spinners being top 6 batsmen, CSK still refuses to play Tahir. When the likes of Bravo encounter the good batsmen in the death, I expect him to be shredded to bits. I think Thakur already does what Bravo specialises in and that opening combination is a big no no. Raina is also not fluent. You can see it and the tracks are going to only get more and more tired.

I agree that the wickets are getting tired and would only get difficult with the amount of matches that are going to be played. But my point was about the dew not being there.

CSK got a dolly there with the conditions improving in a way that makes them look dangerous. Most of us felt 188 was 10 short, but the lesser presence of the dew and the turn that the pitch provided today made CSK look extremely dangerous. CSK were missing the off spinner badly last year and their overseas combo of last year didn't allow them to play Tahir enough and so Jadeja bore the brunt of that with his bowling and got tonked. But when you bring in the off spinner to compliment Jadeja, suddenly you have a guy to handle the left hander (off spin) and a guy to handle the right hander (left arm spin). And of course the wicket turning with lower dew makes it deadly.

Still think there are kinks in that batting lineup with Ruturaj's form, Raina's expose against the short ball, Dhoni's cold form but the wins should encourage CSK to move forward with better frame of mind and hopefully fix their kinks

Good to hear MS say that he thought his first 6 balls with the bat could well cost CSK some games this season if it continues... I still think with the resources he has, he should relax his "back till you come good" theory and give guys like Uthappa or Jagadeesan or Gowtham a chance in place of Ruturaj. Open with Rayudu and play Gowtham and Ali together. Gowtham can give better returns with bat than what Ruturaj is doing now.

Thanks to Ashwin and former South Africa analyst Prasanna by making Ali Bhai very famous with CSK fans even before he bowled a ball this tournament. Some amazing marketing sense deployed by CSK to connect Moeen Ali into the hearts of Chennai's Tamil film loving fans. A few fanatic fans of a Tamil actor (I am sure they were deployed by CSK ) asked Moeen Ali who was fielding at the boundary during the India vs England test match in Chennai, for an update about a movie of a famous Tamil film actor (Ajith Kumar; movie name was Valimai which means power). Moeen Ali went to Ashwin during the test and asked him "What does Valimai update mean?"

CSK pounced on it, got R Ashwin and Prasanna's help to create/strengthen the meme around "Ali Bhai and the Valimai update" through Ashwin's YT videos and now "Ali Bhai and Valimai update" is an emotion Ashwin works secretly for the marketing team of CSK while playing for Delhi Capitals. Lucky he hasn't been pulled up by anyone for what anyone might easily consider "illegal trespassing" (though it isn't)
