Stokes is quite overrated in T20s to be fair. I would have Hardik over him in the first place.

It most definitely is more than plausible IMO, Pandya's biggest weakness has been focusing on bowling as the fifth bowler when he should have been nudged towards working on his batting. He has the very unique ability to completely dominate spin with his unorthodox technique. All he needs to do is improve his decision making to become a truly world class all-rounder.

It may be plausible!
Unless he is playing in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy or DY Patil T20 Tournament I don't think it is reasonable to make such assumptions. He is a gem player but certainly hasn't reached his peak and is far from realising his potential. I would rate Irfan Pathan(2005-09) ahead of him.

I tend to agree with this. He never have performed in T20s like he does in other format.[DOUBLEPOST=1595765214][/DOUBLEPOST]

Needs to stay away from hype as well. Don't want another incident like KWK to occur.

Stokes hasn't really played much T20. Made his debut the same summer as Buttler for England, but Buttler has played 69 matches and Stokes 26. Buttler has played double the T20s overall.

He's played more IPL matches in the last two years than he has for Durham since 2014.

And when he plays for England, despite being the best overall player I think in T20 with the batsmen and bowlers available he's somewhat of a luxury rather than an essential piece of the test team.

So the IPL officially starts on September 19th with the final on November 10th (Tuesday) and is happening in the UAE.

Should be a huge respite for the audience, who've been stressed out these past few months due to COVID and its after effects. I know cricket might sound as if its the least important in this COVID world, but trust me, it has the ability to ease out stress and give much needed entertainment and joy to the people watching it.

Hope UAE can somehow fit in 40-50% of the audience into the stadiums. Nothing can replace the effect of having people in the grounds cheering the players. And the effect ripples across to the TV audiences too.

Important thing, it brings a revenue to India's GDP

Though it is being played in UAE still it will generate revenue for the country.

Revenue will be less this time. Also it means nothing to GDP of country.

I don't think there will be too much of excitement in people as well as the players. But something is better than nothing. I doubt many foreign players might pull out due to pandemic.

I remember an article in The Guardian (by Barney Ronay if I'm right) that argued for the importance of sport to provide entertainment in these times and it did make sense provided proper precaution and measures are taken beforehand. Of course it must be up to the players to make the final call and those who do not feel like it should be allowed to withdraw. Not too sure about the crowds part though, there was a lack of passion/interest in general for the international and domestic Pakistani games and I really don't expect any sort of impact from an associate crowd. But if it does prevent the usage of the fake crowd noise I would be all for it.
