So we are playing 8 test matches in 2010. But someone said we are just playing 5 tests before the 2011 World Cup (that too including the ones that we are playing against Sri Lanka at the moment)? 8 tests in the year is pretty good, that too two test series against South Africa and New Zealand.

The India-South Africa test series is going to be hotshot. We are playing at home but South Africa have beaten Australia in Australia, and they have beaten India once in India in 2000. It will be a lovely series, just what test cricket needs. Hope the pitches for that series are given the best preparation. Its coming in at the ideal time in Feb-March when the summer sets into India. It has all the makings of a cracking contest.

Well said mate.. People just rumoured around saying india playing only 2 test in 2010 and aussie on other side playing 9 Test matches..

it's nothing like that..

Actually i went to Brabourne stadium to buy tickets for India Srilanka 3rd Test and found the schedule there..

why not go to SA? that seems a bit unfair, india haven't played many top teams outside india lately.

Agreed, its going to be the same BS as last time, 2 really flat decks for draws then a massive turning wicket so India wins the 3rd Test and takes it 1-0.

If India went to SA they would stand no chance.

Oh god not Sri Lanka again. :noway

:facepalm seriously and another 7 match ODI series with Aus as well :doh

That is not bullshit. If South Africa is truly the number 1 side then they would/should be able to play on a turning wicket. Turning wicket = Bouncy/Swinging wicket.

I think BCCI didn't get time to make a new schedule so they revised the 09 schedule for 2010.;)
Well all series are looking unfair to me.
There is just virtually real away tour.(Zimbabwe is more then easy to play)

India will be in England and Australia in 2011. And if South Africa are the greatest, ask them to win a series in India. The last time they did it was in 2000 (I guess). Also in Feb-March, the Indian summer will set in and the wickets will be far more livelier than how they have been so far in the ongoing Ind-SL series.

Only unfair one to me is the Australia-India 7 ODI's (gosh, so boring to have 7 ODI's again within one year of playing).:doh

Shane Warne took most of his wickets on green tops.

Dust bowl's are an exotic type of pitches that only favor spinners, considering that there are usually a 3/1 ratio of fast bowlers to spin bowlers in a Test team, he is well justified to say it is BS.

it's not that, it's just it was pretty well agreed upon, even by most indian fans in the "the new no.1" thread that there is no dominant no.1 so if India and SA are going to square off it would be fairer if they took turns hosting, India had their chance to beat them at home 18 months ago and they failed.

as long as SA is the biggest contender then until India can go to SA and win india cannot be considered a no.1 side in any meaningful sense.

The point is that in India you have to expect turning tracks, just as you would expect fast, bouncy pitches in Australia and South Africa. There has to be a home advantage otherwise it takes a great deal of meaning out of being able to say that you won an away series.

yes, and there has to actually be an away series or it takes a great deal of meaning out of rah rah rahing about claiming you're the best test side.
