Bit surprised that Luke Wright is in the team for England. Will he be a better replacement of Collingwood, or should Eoin Morgan come into the team? England should win this match, i'll put some money on it
Hahaha. I like it. Looks like a India A side without Sehwag, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Zaheer & Bhajji!
And Luke Wright in the Test team? That's a jobs for the (Home Counties) boys selection if ever I saw one! Don't think he's in the top 10 contenders as Collingwood's replacement.
Might be a silly question but I don't believe you've said what season we're in. 2011?
Day 1 - Session1 - First 5 Overs 2 Important things to note before we get started, not all my updates will be five overs, only the first of each innings as I feel they are the most crucial. Secondly, the reason it has taken me so long to produce an update was due to my AC09 not working, but all is well now.
The anticipation had grown until finally a huge roar from the crowd as India's captain Gautam Gambhir and Murali Vijay stepped out alongside a slightly weakened yet still imposing England team. The first ball was really a nothing ball neither here nor-there and Gambhir easily watched it pass his off stump. The rest of the over had a similair trend wth no real aggression shown through England's frontline paceman, Jimmy Anderson. Onions took on the duty to bowl the second over and with his first ball, slightly overpitched on the line of off-stump, created a chance. Vijay tried to flick the ball but due to conditions the ball had a hint of swing taking the outside edge. All Prior had to do was make a regulation dive to his left and take the catch at knee hight, but alas, nothing is ever a given in this world. Prior wasn't able to cling on and Vijay had been given a chance.
Vijay made sure to capitalize on his fortune and dispatched Onions during the time he faced him. Onions was well and truly out-bowled by Anderson, who at the other end was peppering Gambhir with short deliveries before finally he delivered the killer blow. A pitched up delivery, shaped back into Gambhir was enough to fluster the temporary captain, who it seemed was distracted by the extra burden. The ball cannoned into the cane in his pads and before the finger went up a frustrated Gambhir was walking back to the pavillion.
Sharma looked slightly uncomfortable on his first delivery, Playing and Missing, probably due to the fact that he hadn't expected to be out there so early. However he was able to get off the mark with just the second ball he faced and gave a sigh of relief in doing so.
Due to that wicket, England have really seized there already prudent advantage and should now look to bowl out India for less than 200 or maybe even 150.
