Feel terrible for the Windies without a main sponsor they have to tape off the middle

Stunning upset by Ireland against a full strength Windies team.
@Aislabie think this is just a fluke, or the start of something good?

Honestly, I'd say a bit of a fluke.

The West Indies team was pretty dire with the likes of Justin Greaves playing as a specialist opener, and in every one of the three games Ireland let strong positions slip to some extent.

Plus, most of the traditional problems are still there - Porterfield with his time-honoured 0 (1) caught at third-man, makeshift top-order (McBrine at three) and the middle and lower order that collapses if it needs to score at six an over.

Essentially, Ireland are still playing ODIs like it's 2002, mostly because the player pool is just tiny. The money hasn't stretched to domestic first-class cricket since 2019. But there are obviously big positives, like the emergence of Harry Tector and Josh Little as decent international players. And just for the moment, Ireland are third in the Super League.

Fluke or not I'mma savour this. (Also, Odean Smith plays cricket how it's meant to be played)
