Has anybody noticed his action change during the first two ODI's? It's pretty noticable and it seems a lot more free-flowing than his old one and I personally think it's for the better. He bowled beautifully today and it's just great to see England's best ODI bowler back.

Yeah its changed. And its for better and for avoiding the injuries. He is still young so you can expect him to improve.

Looked very threatening and his pace was right up there with some of our bowlers. Movement was causing problems for us too. Looks to be a good bowler in the making.

I agree on the pace thing. He surprised me yesterday because he was constantly bowling at 85+mph. I hope he gets a chance in the first Test at Brisbane because he's always had a nack for taking early wickets and breaking partnerships.

to me he front arm isn't as coiled up as it used to be?

Such a relief to have him back, missed him so much this summer. He hit some form in India before his injury, doing well in one of the tests iirc.

Very true. Took 4'fer in Mumbai which set up our winning platform. Could prove to be an Ashes trump card just as Jones was last year.

I'm still waiting for Anderson to break through. He started off brilliantly especially at the last World Cup, but then faded away due to an injury I think. I remember he came back on a tour a couple of years ago and didn't look too impressive as he'd hardly played cricket, before then getting injured. I'd rather see him in the Ashes side than Mahmood on current form, long term replacement for Hoggard in my mind, with the potential to be a lot better than Hoggard is.

Interesting logic. He does seem to be a bit of a 'fast Hoggard' if you will. I also remember him in South Africa in 04/05; Played a couple of Tests and got carted around as he was a shadow of the bowler that he usually is. Hopefully, and I mean hopefully, he has put his demons and his injuries behind him and what we see now is the real James Anderson.

What I mean is, he's the type of bowler who can constantly put it in the right areas and get results. I don't see him as a Harmison type of bowler who is capable of getting 6 or 7 in an innings, but if he keeps fit, he'd be a decent performer in my opinion. I hope he regains his form of earlier years as he's by far our best ODI bowler, although Flintoff may be close to him now actually.
