Life without the internet?

after watching that south park episode, i really began to wonder. what would life be right now without the internet. our dependency on the internet .....its just crazy!

and have you guys ever tried to completely isolate yourself from the internet ?
be it iPhones, BBs, Laptops etc..not even opening google or wikipedia for more than a week ?

have to admit, am kind of an addict with regards to the internet. getting in the morning and checking my mails and planetcricket / TAOC posts is more of a priority to my mind than even going to the loo.
hence,am actually planning to test my will power and to exactly realize life outside the cyber-world.

will try to complete isolate myself from any internet activity for an entire week. heck, am gonna raise the bar and say isolate from any computer / laptop activity.

havent yet made up my mind entirely, but willing to give it a shot in the coming days.

what about you guys ? are you addicted to the internet ?

My Bsnlnet was down for 16 days due to some cable fault,and I wasted more than Rs 100 in cyber cafe that time ,I tried to isolate myself form internet for that 16 days,But i failed,

JK , imo , its not a very good idea in isolating yourself for over a week from the internet . Its where we actually belong and enjoy being in , whats the use in spoiling that ?? TBF , a day without the internet makes me suicidal (slight exaggeration here )

Meh, I cannot isolate myself from internet, even if I spend the whole day playing NBA or Cricket, still I am bound to check on PC or surf on the internet once. But I don't crave for it, it's just that it is in so I am using it.

I was kinda addicted to PC a few months ago, but that's history now.

This is a very good point, i will never have a facebook or twitter account or anything like that, if your not in my contacts on my mobile phone then im not interested in you simple as, and i have no desire show people i may or may not of liked back in my school days my life, i haven't stayed in contact with you for a reason.

My missus used to spend 2 hours chatting to her mate on facebook in the morning before the wife and her friend had to take the kids to school, then when they meet their to drop them off they got nothing to chat about!!!

Internet has taken face to face conversation away and that is a very bad thing to me

I on the other hand am quite grateful for FB, MSN and Skype as it allows me to keep in touch with people I do like (old friends, family) who are in other countries or back at home.


I also absolutely love the internet when it comes to studying, a lot of my lecture notes don't explain the material well enough and that's when google and the tons of online educational sites come to my aid.

The main problem here is ADDICTION which most people are confined to.

I actually can live without it as I have when I've been on holiday. But when I've been without the internet for about a month while I was at home it gets pretty boring and you realise how much the internet has a part in most peoples lives.

People go to porno sites because they are being led to it. Internet's existence doesnt automatically take you to pornographic sites, so dont use it as a disadvantage of the Internet. Its just like in the real world. Will you say that living in this world has its disadvantages because certain people watch other people having sex?
