Managed obsalescence in C19?

I've been barred from starting new matches in C19, just a padlock over the icons. I can carry on with save games.

Is this a way of forcing people onto the newer title like Apple does with their phones?! Can anyone shed any light on this? I've verified game cache, restarted, etc.

If you have saved games, you might have too many, so cannot start a new one.
