Though Botha hung around with Duminy...he finished at a strike rate of 75...I thought he should have ended with some 30 n.o or more....those extra runs will always benefit in close games...

Well something under 280 is a blessing for Irish Team.they have to chase it if they want t owin it because Batting is their Strength.Hopefully guys like Potter,Nail,Kevin and Alec will perform

who's potter and alec?

the key to ireland chasing this score is Ed Joyce-if he gets going Ireland can/will win

Really can't see Ireland winning, below is their 5 and 10 wicket (where applicable) FOW

vs BAN : 110/5 > 178/10 (68 runs for last five wickets)
vs ENG : 111/5 > 329/7
vs IND : 147/5 > 207/10 (60 runs for last five wickets)
vs WIN : 187/5 > 231/10 (44 runs for last five wickets)

Only once have they passed 150 before losing their 5th wicket, only against England did they add more than 68 runs after losing their 5th wicket, although they have improved as the tournament has gone on from 110/5 in the first match to 187/5 in their last.

Still expect South Africa to win this comfortably, reckon Steyn will take 3-5 wickets.

it's understandable when steyn and morkel rip through you if you're an associate but they really should have done a little better against botha and peterson. Those two are hardly the pinnacle of ODI spinners and if they want to compete with the test teams, even just at ODI level, they need to do better than this.

disappointing for ireland, they had their chance probably a bit too early in the match giving SA time to recover. you really want to have a good finish to an innings if you're a minnow as it leaves less time for the better team to right themselves.

Off he goes :mad....One Match wonder...:p

Yeah, he is a one match wonder just like John Davison (Canada) who scored the fastest century in WC 2003 (67 Balls)

Dont see him finding any serious takers in the IPL.

I said that, someone then waffled on about how he'd taken wickets which isn't exactly the point.

Wasn't he dropped on 36 as well, or something like that?

Anyway, I listed the stats for the fall of the 5th wicket and Ireland then obliged by falling into line

vs BAN : 110/5 > 178/10 (68 runs for last five wickets)
vs ENG : 111/5 > 329/7
vs IND : 147/5 > 207/10 (60 runs for last five wickets)
vs WIN : 187/5 > 231/10 (44 runs for last five wickets)
vs SAF : 92/5 > 141/10 (49 runs for last five wickets)

Losing the last five wickets for so few runs is only a serious problem when you don't get to 200+ first. Those screaming for Ireland to get Test status should look at those stats, may only be an ODI with no limits on overs in Tests, but the quality of batting has to be questioned when they are averaging 129/5.

Add to that the runs they are conceding and I think the Ireland bandwagon has no wheels on it.

vs BAN : 205/10 (rpo 4.16)
vs ENG : 327/8 (rpo 6.54)
vs IND : 210/5 (rpo 4.57)
vs WIN : 275/10 (rpo 5.50)
vs SAF : 272/7 (rpo 5.44)

They bowled out Bangladesh for 205 but still lost, India cantered to victory batting second, but the rest comfortably scored 270+ and only twice did they bowl their opponents out. In a Test match they would be like Bangladesh and facing 400, 500 and 600+ on a regular basis - although at least that would push harder the case for tiers, it certainly would all end in tiers one way or another :D

I think you better join some media or some commentary team as a STATISTICIAN...you might become famous :p for providing needy statistics in the nick of time....:D
