The squad looks superbly balanced for this season. The inclusion of Johnson, Karthik, Levi, RP Singh and Ojha is a great boost. I wonder if Ojha will get many chances given that Harbhajan is also in the team.

Mumbai Indians can have 2 competitive teams with the players they have. They still will not win IPL :D

They lack a big overseas batsman someone like deVilliers or Albie Morkel (for T20). They will have to depend on the locals and overseas guys like Richard Levi and Aiden Blizzard. Levi is very good when it comes to hitting the ball a long way but in T20, you never know. Their bowling looks very good. Probably the best in the tournament.

The problem with them is their over-reliance on Pollard and Malinga, who tend to feature in every match that they play. The other foreign players would not get a chance in the tournament, as we have seen over the last few years.

I hope Malinga will beat his record in conceding more runs. He'll concede a century and beat his record against India(In which he missed the century by just 4 runs). :p

IPL 2012: Tendulkar gives up Mumbai Indians captaincy | Cricket News | Indian Premier League 2012 | ESPN Cricinfo

Sachin Tendulkar resigns as captain and Harbhajan to lead. Good decision less pressure on the man who has gone through a lot in last year
I've been defending him, but I do think the mollycoddling of Sachin and giving him an easy ride might be going too far. Your post made me think he might have a giant box of cotton wool in the dugout, to jump into when he's finished batting. :( He's only been through that which all cricketers at that level have to deal with.

I hope Mumbai does good this year as they have a really strong team.

They have solved the opening problem by snapping Richard Levi.

They have also solved their bowling woes by getting RP Singh and Pragyan Ojha

Now they have:

Lasith Malinga
Munaf Patel
RP Singh
Pragyan Ojha

So the team would be:

Sachin
Levi
Raydu
Rohit
Pollard
Karthik
Franklin/Yadav
Harbhajan
Malinga
Munaf
Ojha/RP Singh
