Horrific performance from Brooks. Just why he is in this playing XI is beyond me.

Good to see KW to be amongst the runs after a while.

Finally they decided to bring back Conway at the top!

I would like to see Mitchell bat ahead to Phillips though. Also good to see Neesham being trusted in the role of no.6 which gives the Kiwis a room to play an additional bowler.

Btw I really enjoyed that six from Odean Smith that he hit against Lockie Ferguson in the 19th over of the innings.

The West Indies have continued to look terrible day after day!

Allen and Conway should be the opening duo for this side. If Allen is too raw (I don’t think he is anymore) play Mitchell there instead. Guptill looks to be done (for the past few years I might add) and it feels like they’re doing the same mistake that CSA did with Amla by sticking with him on the basis of reputation. At this point I would take even Munro over him.

Phillips is a gun T20 batter though. Don’t mind him batting ahead of Mitchell although I can understand why Mitchell could be ahead in terms of playing style. Neesham is still arguably NZ’s best death bowling option and I doubt he is getting axed even with the threat of Macewell looming large. I would actually play the latter ahead of Southee if it comes to that stage and make the team bat more aggressively with the batting depth (it feels like I’ve been proposing lineups that emphasise NZ’s batting depth and request them for Baz era aggression since 2018 :lol).

West Indies’ glory era is over since they have failed to adapt to the changing times and have lost their pioneers in the T20 circuit to age, form and fitness. Their model of power hitting has been copied by almost every team now. We’re also seeing alternate ways of approaching T20s with South Africa’s method of dealing in fours rather than sixes primarily which I feel could work on Aussie grounds. I’m not sure if the CPL rule that states a rookie must play everytime still exists but it caused plenty of players to become stagnant like Odean or Powell. Besides that we don’t see as many T20 superstars from West Indies these days like in the past.

@Bevab I really like to see Daryl Mitchell play that fighter role in the side where he usually sees the team through a tight run chase or takes forward the platform laid by the top 3.

Allen should be a lock in the first XIs for both upcoming WCs. This innings has shown that he can also bat patiently if needed and he’s done a superb job at handling Hosein which is no mean feat demonstrating his spin playing abilities.

Knowing NZC though he will probably carry drinks whilst Guptill ambles to a below par knock as routine.

Allen-Conway needs to be the opening pair in LOIs.

West Indies have finally found a decent spinner in Akeal Hosein.

I’ve said the same regarding the NZ opening pair. Allen offers a lot of upside that no one else in the side comes close to matching currently.

Once Motie is back they will have two decent spinners. Just need to get that fifth bowling option fixed and their bowling should at least win games in the qualifiers.

Quite surprised that this is NZ's first win in the Carribbean since ages!
