Anyone interested in talking about themselves? Where you went, what you saw, your hobbies, things you liked to eat or collect during your growing up years. For instance I attended a rather draconian boarding school in Sydney from ages 6-16. I was messing about online the other day and shock/horror I found a clip of my old school. I have posted it for anyone interested. Perhaps you can talk about where you were educated.
    Baggers, Baggy.

Forced to go? Doesn't sound like you enjoyed boarding school.

Anyone who has been to a boarding school would know what I am saying. I was forced to go there as my late father was a Mason amd this school was run by the Masons. Boarding school was archaic. Too regimented. No freedom. I cried for the first six months. Never understood why I was being kept away from my family.

Fond memories to share from the boarding school? I'm sure you learned some lessons there that you still use today.

I went to a private school, that was bad enough, very strict and no freedom.

Not fond memories at all. If you had a spot on your shoe at inspection time you were given two demerit points. Reach 10 points and you missed out on the fortnitely movie. Being given detention for the pettiest of misdemenors meant you had to polish floors. There were occasions when I had to polish the floors while my family visited. You ever been caned on the bare bum. We were often. Had red welts and found it hard to sit for at least a week . I said it was draconian... and it was in every sense of the word.

Where were you educated RUDI? Tell us a bit about it.

My High School sounds like heaven compared to yours. Here's a link that I have found http://hsbrits.co.za/ and https://www.instagram.com/hsbrits/

We had corporal punishment up until grade 10 (for me then) , which they changed to a demerit system. The demerit system in my opinion doesn't work ...

I was fortunate to attend an academic school with a sound sporting culture. I played Rugby, Cricket and did Athletics. We had swimming, tennis and shooting as well, which I didn't really enjoy doing much.

There too are several of these specialist sporting colleges in Sydney. Former Australian Test cricketer Michael Clarke was one famous sportsman to attend one.. RUDI your first vid is in Afrikaans so no idea what is being said?

My boarding school had one sporting constant. The annual Sports Day (see vid) between the various School Houses. If we wanted to play year round sports we had to convene our own. The Masons evidently dont go in for sports in a big way. I played rugby, Rugby League and Cricket on the schools expansive fields usually habitated by grazing cows (see vid) Before we played a game we had to dispose of the cow crap. The other hazard was dive bombing magpies.

My first taste of the movies was at the archaic Engadine Picture Palace (see pic) Some friends and I would get in free by way of a loose side wooden board. We managed to get away with it for some time until the manager finally twigged and threatened to ban us and if we did it again to tell our parents or the police. I do not recall the title of my first movie but we were given a regular diet of old American serials plus Disney cartoons. We would gorge ourselves on the confectionery treats of the day..the Choo Choo licorice bar, choc toffee Fantales with a bio of a movie star on the wrapper and this yummy sherbet like item that you sucked as you spun it on a string. I kid you not. Anyone else have an anecdote of their first cinema experience?
