The Pies aren't quite good enough, and Luke Ball will help but he won't make them serious contenders. The Dogs are mentally soft, too inconsistent and only perform when their backs are to the wall. Their list is good enough (have the second best midfield in the league) but Hall is going to change very little - he's a loose cannon and his best footy is behind him. He'll have his moments of brilliance, but just as likely are head-snaps.

I think St Kilda could drop from the disappointment of last year and the Ball and Lovett fiascos.

Brisbane's recruiting has looked very suspect - recruiting injury prone players like Raines and plain old hacks like Xavier Clarke. Fev is the only good addition, but he needs to be kept under control, and Judd had enough trouble. The fact that they've completely unsettled their team will make it close to impossible to throw together a bunch of players and win a flag. Bradshaw to Fev was an upgrade, but was it worth rocking the boat?

I reckon the GF could be a Geelong v Hawthorn rematch of 08, hopefully it will go the other way this time.

Hawthorn are one to look out for, especially if they can keep of the injuries.

If all goes well for Hall, he'll kick 70. If it doesn't, he'll struggle to 40.

He's got one of the best mid fields in the competition feeding him, plus Aker and Johnno in the forward line

I would be happy with a 12-14th finish for the Dees, I reckon that will be around where we will finish as well. Despite coming last in 09, we were better than that - our tanking against Richmond, etc. dropped us a few key points. We also challenged West Coast at Subiaco, losing by 9 points, and won other games against Port Adelaide, so we definitely aren't total hacks, but we are still Bottom 8 material.. or Bottom 6, at least.

Love the way Bailey is running the show though, he's doing a great job.

It'll be interesting to see how Scully and Trengrove go in the NAB Cup. They will definitely play, and they'll probably play in Round 1.

We're a good chance of making the second round, seeing as we're playing Fremantle, who we thrashed last year. If it was in Melbourne, we'd start favourites, but seeing as it's in Perth, it should be a pretty tight game.

Essendon were pitiful last night. They played a strong first quarter, then let it get away. They saved face with the last quarter.

Broken record: Nic Naitanui will be fantastic. His only weakness his his marking, which was terrific last night. But I will appreciate Watts for who he is :p

The Showdown today was pree good. And Richmond are failing again.

Go Eagles! Signs are promising, but all we have to do now is to play well in the proper season:p

They killed the competition towards the end last year.

Will win a premiership within three-five years.

I'd hate to be a Richmond supporter. They're still no good, I'd fire the scouting team as all other struggling teams such as West Coast, Fremantle and Melbourne have all got future stars, but who does Richmond have besides Cotchin?

Yeah he's good because he's Tasmanian. But seriously, do they really want him as their major forward? also do they want players like Alex Rance playing on the main forwards?

A lot will depend on Trent Cotchin and Dustin Martin in the mid field. The defence is shaky, especially with Polak on and off. Will Thursfield looks good though, as does King. And Jordan McMahon is a bonus down back

But of course, it will all ride on Deledio, Cousins and Polo in the midfield/half forward. They have a decent full forward line, with Mitch Morton, etc.

Really, there are just too many loose ends. Plenty of talent, but they look like half and half players.

Freo on sunday against the Dee's. As usual I will be off to watch.

Not really expecting anything to be honest, I don't expect us to win or lose. Lol, I thought going to the match with an open mind would be the best bet!

:p
