Pakistan are going well prepared into the WC a full fledged ODI series against the home side before the tournament on similar conditions.Given their last CT victory Pakistan for me will be the team to beat if their bowlers start picking up wickets and they get their team combinations right.

But it's not going to happen this time as their bowlers aren't even in half the form they were before CT'17. I don't think so this Pakistan side has that the ability to beat most of the teams among all 9 sides they are going to play so it's going to be very difficult for them to win the WC. And in CT'17 it was like most of the teams had given the match away to Pakistan in their wins

Same was said before CT'17. Tbh, no one can predict what they'll do. Before CT'17 it was like they won't even qualify for it but they won it. Anyone expected that? No.

Well I think this time luck is not with them lol...hopefully I am wrong but all we can depend on is our bowlers.

See it's a long tournament and once you start losing then it's difficult to comeback because your morale gets down with continuous loses. In a tournament like CT you win 4 matches and you win the Cup but it's not going to be same in World Cup with this format as you have to win minimum of 5 matches to get to the SF and then it depends on performance in a particular match. You don't perform well you get eliminated. And also tbh things were a lot different in CT'17 which was a tournament played 2 years ago. Hasan Ali doesn't look like the same wicket-taker as he was a couple of years ago, you don't have Amir, Junaid is very inconsistent and Shadab alone can't win you matches. It would be like a dream for Pakistan to win the WC

Well that's probably good for us because at least we won't be angry or upset if they lost as we won't be expecting much from Pakistan lol.

Pakistan is 2 down already for only 31 runs, Pakistan have being struggling for a good opener and today proves it.

I am not used to watching Pakistan bowling this bad in a long time. Arguably, you can blame the conditions but at the end of the day, our bowlers were just pathetic.

Mohammad Hasnain was a liability and a joke. He hit the early 90's but failed to bowl with any real penetrative. Faheem Ashraf is a waste of a slot and even Hasan Ali seemed completely off color. The more you think about it, the more the need for Amir and Junaid becomes evident.

We got a little lucky with the batting and somehow scrapped our way to 170. Comes down to the same question that it always has, where is the finishing power that we need.

Looking ahead, let's hope we make more of a game against England, otherwise, the world cup could be a huge challenge.

Pakistan just needs to get its combination right. In my opinion, on a priority basis, we need to get rid of Fahim Ashraf and Hasnian. Hasnain though can be a long term asset, he needs some investment of time and resources however Its a huge gamble picking him over Aamir and trying an experiment in the World Cup ahead. As far as Fahim Ashraf is concerned, He has always been an ordinary cricketer thus far, I don't consider him an international material. If he gets his batting right he can be useful but as far as his bowling is concerned. He is below average internationally no matter how many wickets he takes in PSL and domestic.

We need to have Aamir and Junaid back in the side. Those who are ruling our Pakistan so early in WC. Boy, Its a long tournament ahead and for Pakistan, it's good for them if they lose the initial matches because they are always dangerous when they are hurt. They just need a balanced combination and believe me it'd be extremely difficult for other teams to beat them.

I'd love to comment here on the views that on CT 2017 it was more luck than performance. Closing your eyes won't hide the reality, we all know that Pakistan won CT with their superb bowling performance. So there are plenty of matches ahead. However, If Inzy tried to stick with Hasnain and Fahim, then Pakistan chances would be slimmer due to below average bowling combination.

In an ideal situation, We can have Aamir and Junaid opening the attack with Hasan Ali and Shahdab/Shaheen coming in between overs. In batting, watch out for Babar Azam and we also need Fakhar Zaman to click to pile up bigger scores.

For today's match, England deserves the full credit as well, Pakistan was 20 to 25 runs short when Babar and Haris missed the plot, England grabbed that opportunity.

Mostly agree with the points raised above. For the first ODI i'd go with this XI, considering Malik and Hafeez are unavailable.

Imam
Fakhar
Babar
Haris
Sarfraz
Asif
Imad
Hasan
Amir
Junaid
Shaheen

This fast bowling quartet could do wonders in the tournament.

That's a good lineup. I guess not having too many options with those two unavailable sets the top half up itself. With regards to the bowling, I am very tempted to squeeze Hasnain in there somehow. I initially hated his selection, but I have to admit, he looked rather impressive in the T20, especially for a 19 year old. When he had his yorkers working for a bit, he looked quite lethal in the T20. May be rest Shaheen as he is sure to be an automatic selection for the WC?

What is the problem withis sarfraz and management, they have inducted Fahim Ashraf as a main strike bowler... when they will realize that Fahim is no international material at all. He is the worst find in the lot this far. He has just one wicket thus far in 2019 with bowling average 190.

Please, NO Hafeez in the World Cup.

Dislikes your comment. This is a high time for Hafeez to be in the squad. The guy has lots of experience and he knows that at this stage of his career he has nothing to loose and a he has role due in the middle order. For the past two years, he has been useful in that role so he is definitely there

I agree with you, The selection have been poor so far.
Pakistan need to wake up and pick the right players because the world cup starts soon and if we continue this crap then I don't see Pakistan winning a single match in the world cup,I don't even bother watching these matches.
