"After using a variety of cricket simulators over the years, I’ve always had my own idea of the kind of cricket simulator I wanted to create and play. But I never felt qualified to build it myself — until now.
Thanks to the power of AI, it's finally possible to bring that vision to life. So here it is: a basic, work-in-progress simulator driven by AI. It's still early days, but I’m excited to share it with you all and hope you enjoy it!"

Pinch Hitter Cricsim is a sophisticated, offline web-based cricket simulation platform designed for creating, managing, and simulating cricket matches with a high degree of realism.​

1. Complete Team Management​

• Team Editor: You can create, edit, and delete an unlimited number of teams. Each team has a custom name, color, and an optional logo URL.
• Player Editor: Within each team, you can manage a full roster of players. The player editor is highly detailed, allowing you to set:
  
  • Name, Batting/Bowling Hand, Role (Batsman, Keeper, Allrounder, etc.), and Bowling Type.
  • granular skill ratings (Bat Skill, Bat Strike, Bowl Skill, etc.) on a scale of 0-20.
  • Special abilities like "Power Hitter," "Yorker Specialist," or "Safe Hands" that influence the simulation.
• Roster Management: Easily add new players to a team or edit existing ones through a dedicated roster management screen.

2. Intuitive Match Setup​

• Team Selection: A visual interface to select the two competing teams. When you select Team 1, the app intelligently pre-loads the next available team as Team 2 to speed up the process.
• Drag-and-Drop Lineups: You can set the batting order for both teams by simply dragging players from the roster into the 11 available lineup slots.
• Strategic Depth:
  
  • The system validates your lineup to ensure you have 11 players, at least one wicket-keeper, and a sufficient number of bowlers.
  • A penalty system is in place: if you place a player outside their preferred batting position (e.g., a "Top Order" batsman in a "Tail Ender" slot), their batSkill is temporarily reduced, which is reflected in their overall rating.
• Match Conditions: You can set the match format (20 or 50 overs) and the pitch type (e.g., Green, Dusty, Flat), which will influence the simulation engine's behavior.

3. Dynamic Match Simulation​

• Simulation Tab: Once both lineups are valid, a "Start Simulation" button appears, taking you to a dedicated simulation screen.
• Simulate by Session: turns the game into a turn-based tactical experience, where the simulation runs automatically within a session, but you act as the captain and set the bowling strategy between sessions.
• Full Match Simulation: With one click, the simulator runs the entire match from the coin toss to the final result.
• Live Commentary: A ball-by-ball commentary log is generated in real-time, describing each delivery, boundary, and wicket.
• Live Scoreboard: A scoreboard keeps track of the current score, wickets, and overs as the simulation progresses.

4. Detailed Post-Match Summary​

• Summary Modal: After the match, a detailed summary automatically pops up. It includes:
  
  • Batting Scorecard: Shows each player's status (e.g., c & b bowler, not out), runs, balls faced, fours, sixes, and strike rate. It also neatly lists any players who did not bat.
  • Bowling Scorecard: Details each bowler's overs, maidens, runs conceded, wickets taken, economy rate, wides, and no-balls.
  • Innings Overview: Includes extras, the final score, total overs, and the run rate for each innings.
  • Partnerships & Fall of Wickets: Lists all partnerships and provides a timeline of when each wicket fell.
• Actionable Options: From the summary, you can:
  
  • Save & Download: Download a professionally formatted .txt file containing the full scorecards and commentary.
  • Re-Simulate: Instantly reset the simulation to run it again with the same teams.
  • Match Setup: Go back to the setup screen to start a new match.

5. Data Persistence​

• Local Storage: All your created teams and players are automatically saved to your browser's local storage, so your data is there the next time you open the file.
• Backup & Restore: You can download a backup of all your team data as a file and restore it later, ensuring you never lose your custom teams & settings.

6. Player Analyzer​

• How It Works: This is a powerful strategic tool that isolates the core simulation engine to run thousands of virtual deliveries in an instant. You select a specific batsman, a specific bowler, and the exact match conditions (pitch, format, session). When you click "Run Analysis," it simulates that matchup 10,000 times and presents the aggregated results. The output includes:
  
  • A doughnut chart showing the distribution of outcomes (wickets, dots, boundaries, etc.).
  • Precise percentage chances for each outcome.
  • A log of which Special Abilities were triggered and how they impacted the result.
• What You Can Do With It:
  
  • Settle Debates: Finally get a data-backed answer to who is better: your star batsman or your rival's ace bowler.
  • Understand Matchups: Discover how a left-arm spinner fares against a right-handed batsman on a "Dusty" pitch, or how effective a "Power Hitter" is during the "Death Overs."
  • Make Tactical Decisions: Use the analyzer before a match to identify the most favorable matchups and exploit your opponent's weaknesses.

7. Engine Settings​

• How It Works: This tab gives you direct access to the "brain" of the simulator. It displays dozens of sliders that correspond to the base probabilities for every event in the game. These are grouped by format (T20/ODI), session (Power Play, Mid, Death), and pitch type. Changing a slider directly modifies the weight of that outcome in the simulation. You can save your custom settings or restore the defaults at any time.
• What You Can Do With It:
  
  • Customize Your Cricket Style: If you feel the default T20 simulation is too low-scoring, you can increase the base probabilities for "four" and "six."
  • Create Different Eras: Simulate 90s ODI cricket by increasing the weight of "dot" balls and decreasing boundaries.
  • Fine-Tune Realism: Adjust the modifiers to make green pitches even more helpful for seamers or dry pitches a paradise for spinners, tailoring the simulation to your exact preferences.

8. Stats​

• How It Works: This is the career mode hub. Every time you save a match summary, the simulator automatically processes the results and updates the career statistics for every player involved. The stats are saved persistently in your browser. The interface allows you to:
  
  • Filter by Team: View the stats for all players or filter down to a single team.
  • Sort Leaderboards: Click on any column header (Runs, Wickets, Average, etc.) to sort the tables and easily find the top performers.
  • Manage Data: You can download the currently viewed stats as a .txt file or clear all career stats to start a new "season."

What Makes the Simulation Engine Stand Out?​

Our simulation engine is the heart of the experience, and it's far more advanced than a simple random number generator. Its strength lies in its multi-layered, contextual probability model.

1. Dynamic Ball-by-Ball Logic: The outcome of every single ball is a unique calculation influenced by a wide range of interacting factors:
   
   • Core Player Ratings: The fundamental batSkill, batStrike, bowlSkill, and bowlEco ratings form the baseline.
   • Match Situation (Session): The engine uses entirely different probability tables for the Power Play, Mid Overs, and Death Overs, reflecting the changing pace of a real match.
   • Pitch Conditions: The selected pitch type applies powerful multipliers. A "Green" pitch significantly boosts wicket chances for pacers, while a "Dry" pitch helps spinners and makes run-scoring harder.
   • Player vs. Player Matchups: The engine understands classic cricket matchups. For example, an off-spinner bowling to a left-handed batsman gets a slight advantage, while a leg-spinner bowling to a right-hander is more threatening.
   • Special Abilities: Player abilities like "Power Hitter," "Swing King," or "Yorker Specialist" are not just for show; they apply significant, targeted boosts to probabilities in the specific situations where they matter most.
2. Realistic Fielding Simulation: The engine doesn't stop at the bat-ball contest. It also simulates the fielding side, calculating the probability of:
   
   • Catches and Drops: Based on the fielder's fieldSkill rating and whether they have the "Safe Hands" ability.
   • Run Saves: An "Agile Fielder" has a higher chance of cutting off a boundary and saving runs.
   • Run Outs: Sharp fielders create more pressure and have a higher chance of causing a run-out.
3. Intelligent AI Captaincy: The AI doesn't just pick bowlers randomly. It uses a scoring system to select the next bowler based on their ratings, special abilities, current spell length, and the match session, mimicking the tactical decisions of a real captain.
4. Super Over Intelligence: In a tie, the engine doesn't just pick the next players in the order. It scans both lineups to select the absolute best three batsmen (based on batSkill + batStrike) and the single best bowler (based on bowlSkill + bowlEco) for the high-pressure situation, ensuring the Super Over is a contest between the teams' elite players.

In essence, the simulator creates a dynamic and believable narrative because every event is the logical outcome of a complex interaction between player skill, strategy, and environmental conditions.

Few matches I played with my TGAR rebuild squads. Pitch type was hard.
Obviously a few issues that I'm sure the finetuning will weed out. (All dismissals caught and bowled, bowlers bowl in order of batting position, 50 overs format selected but played a T20), but the scores themselves seem quite realistic and the base is there for this to be a very good option for sims.
