Who do you think will pick up player of the Champions Trophy. As I see it their is currently four guys in the running:

Ricky Ponting
Daniel Vettori
Shane Watson
Grant Elliott

I've got that thinking that because it's such a short tournament to win this award you pretty much have to have your team in the final.

Vettori or Watson, depends
Both have scored runs and taken cheap wickets.

I'd give it to Vettori personally

Watson made a pair so he shouldn't be in the running for it.

Hard to go past Ponting hes been so consistent and vital to us being in the Final. Vettori is there abouts and Elliott is making a late bid. It could well be decided by how those 3 go in the final.

wayne parnell is the highest wicket taker, Vettori has to take 5 wickets on the final to top that.

and if NZ wants to win then Vettori has to take more then 3 wickets.

if he does, then he should be the MOT or POT or w/e

Yea but that 5fer that Parnell took was the most undeserving 5fer in recent times. He bowled pretty poorly compared to his performances earlier this year, His pace was down and his line was too close to leg stump

Yea agree with this. Ponting has been fantastic all tournament pretty much, that 79 against the Windies pretty much won/saved them the game. If Australia win's tonight he should be named man of the tournament. But if Vettori has another good game and New Zealand wins he'll most likely be named.

Ponting at the moment, but we'll see what happens in the final.

Vettori or Ponting.

Daniel Vettori hands down!
Come on mate! The guy has been brilliant both with the bat and the ball.
Ricky Ponting's a strong contender too,but Shane Watson and Grant Elliott are out of the equation.

dunno about watson, 4 innings and two ducks.

personally I would throw saeed ajmal into the mix, he's been far and away the best bowler in the tournament.

still, ponting probably.

Has to be decided after the final imo.

Watson has 2 ducks so far, so don't think so.

Ponting looks like he should win the award.

But as I said, we have to wait till after the final... Watson could take a 5-fer and smash a century. :laugh
