Joke of the day: SC stays the implementation of Farm Laws. Also constitute 4 member-committee to negotiate with the farmers and give the report to SC.

Joke here is, all the 4 members of the committee are in favour of implementing the Laws from the day it was introduced. Like seriously

If I'm not wrong, CAA/NRC was never withdrawn or put on hold. There were huge protests across the country against it but due to pandemic govt declared lockdown which halted the protests.

True. But it will come into effect that's for sure.

I'm just hoping any international media or political leaders stand up to these things

Don't think that would make any difference. You may read negative things about the PM here and there but when it comes to voting, he has the numbers on his side.

Was just about to comment on this . They could have at least added 1 person who was NEUTRAL if not against the law. No wonder SC has become the butt of all jokes in the past year. Their 'stern steps' trying to bring the Govt under scrutiny almost always seem to be just tokenism and nothing else

Even funnier, the GOVT representative did not even try to oppose the SC's argument to put a stay on the Farm Laws. Its a simple get out of jail card and nothing else

Yes, with that they can easily stop the protest, delay the judgement and finally implement the laws without any opposition (just like CAA/NRC).

And most importantly the prestige of BJP and PM will not be affected a bit. Instead of withdrawing, they choose SC as a way out. Lol to our democracy and lol to our constitution. Not in a happy way but shameful.

True. Doesn't mean the govt is correct. I have always been critical of ever Govt in power, whether Congress or BJP or any of those alliances. What has really changed today is how spineless our country's media has become. They have served as the Govt's lapdogs and ensured that their moves are hailed as masterstrokes without a single cross examination. And that has been the greatest defeat of our democracy in the past 5 years

No doubt the farmers are suffering and I am in no way try to say to ignore the issues.

It's just that politics is a game outside our domain. Better just stay away from it.

Better concentrate on the things we can control. Over the things we can't.

True words friend. I try my best to do that - but every once in a while, I get worried for my country and the sad state of affairs. Often times I even question myself, that maybe I am the blind one and not able to see what the 'majority' sees in the Government. But then some new episode like today's SC verdict happens and it reaffirms my own thoughts on this GOVT.

Nevertheless, a sage advice and definitely worth following if one can

I stay away from politics. No one is 100% right. Every party has its own agenda. People with money and power can do anything they want and we ordinary people are just spectators.

I only know one thing that Modiji is better than Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, etc.

This again is your bias. Someone else might have other opinion.

So better to not publically give out opinion which might increase the friction between the common public. Giving the the parties what they want. For the citizen to get divided in clans by their opinions and hoping that their clan is a bigger one.

Really not understanding why PM is quite on Farmer Protest & Suicides. His one time intervention in this issue can resolve most of the problems at once.

Also heard that British Parliament has now written a letter to Indian Govt. to resolve the farmer's issue ASAP. Will not be surprised if Kamala Harris arrives with her socialist agendas once swearing in ceremony is over on Jan 20. Hope, this is resolved before that happens.

She’s centrist at best, in terms of economic policies. Plus she’s gonna be Vice President, with the main role to preside over the Senate, which will have a 50-50 tie, needing her tie-breaking vote, rather than exercising any actual power, apart from having an influential position to launch a future run for the presidency.
India had such a potential to be a Western-style progressive democracy. Too bad.

From what I read so far about her and her stands on various issues across the world, I don't think she's centrist. I may have read a misleading article but yes, I expect here to do something for India (a way out of all this mess).

I think she will raise her voice if the Modi regime escalates things dramatically, but in general, the trade relationship is significant, so i think the new US administration will mostly stay silent, just like the EU (apart from issuing inconsequential statements).
When compared to the average American politician, Kamala Harris is slightly to the left, but when compared to Western politics in general, she is centrist at best (although you can’t compare the Western political spectrum with India, in terms of economic policy). She doesn’t support universal healthcare, which even rightwing politicians in Europe firmly support.

I guess the Arnab's whatsapp chat leak pretty much proves the point here - he has an IN with the PMO and gets plenty of inside info even on national security matters. You cannot get this info without doing any favors in return i.e. not questioning the govt and playing to their tunes.

It is just whatsapp chats, so it will not hold any ground in the courts and this will get blown over within a few days - nevertheless feels like sweet justice at some level. Rhea chakraborty must be delighted :P
