With regards to knocking the bat in or paying extra, it's really personal choice. Bear in mind that it's not a quiet activity and it will take some time to knock the bat in properly. Allow around 2 weeks to complete the task fully - do not try to do all 6 hours in one sitting as the wood fibres will just spring back, wasting your time. Slow and steady is the best way.King Pietersen said:cheers, Also, shall i go for the ?98 Pioneer globe or the ?70 purpose globe ? Is it really worth spending an extra ?28 ?
If you can afford it go for the slightly more expensive bat as you'll be getting a better piece of willow. However, you need to ask yourself what you're after in this bat - longevity or performance. The cheaper bat will (in theory) be slightly harder and therefore should last longer but the more expensive should look nicer (less blemishes, straighter grain) and the wood should have a bit more life in it.
