Random Thoughts

Should've just flagged, it's only the first week.

I wouldn't have thought that the buses would be that busy at that time though. I start at 8 or 9, which is peak hour, and there aren't normally too many full buses.

Quite a few of the first year lectures are recorded anyway too

Signed up for clubs and AUSA and stuff?

Kind of.

I've signed up for AUSA, and I've put my name down for Hockey. I couldn't find anything to do with cricket, I think that's because the university club is just named that, while it isn't actually based there, I may just go back and play for Cornwall.

In terms of the non sporting clubs, none of them really interest me as boring as that sounds (e.g. Religious ones and Ethnic ones). :p

I haven't taken a look at the Com ones yet though.

What ones are you a member of?

Yea AUSA you kinda have to sign up for. I thought about joining the tennis club but can't be bothered. I saw there's a Pokemon club though :lol. I signed up for the Kiwi Asian Club (being a Kiwi Asian...) and the Management Consultant Club (friend wanted me to be on their team). Also AULSS (Law society).

Yeah, I had a good lol at the Pokemon club.
Apparently one of my brothers friends made him join it. :lol

I've been offered the bible five times in two days as well, talk about trying to convert me. :spy

First impressions on university life though? Much better than school imo :yes

In terms of the learning environment I think I prefer the smaller classes at school, but outside lectures and stuff it's obviously better. :)

anyone catch that article about the Christian couple in the UK not being allowed to foster kids because they preach against homosexuality?

sits in perfect contrast with how socially backwards the USA is in some regards. Over here some states don't let gay people foster kids or adopt them.

Have to admit I like your system a bit better in that regard. We have yet to root out some overwhelmingly Christian influences in our ethical laws.

There was a law passed recently that meant religious institutes couldn't discriminate against gay couples wishing to adopt.

Charity Commission refuses to change Catholic Care gay adoption decision - Third Sector

Given the amount of kids who need adopting in the UK and how massive an issue it is, if these institutes and charities actually cared about the kids in the first place, then this wouldn't be an issue.

Various other ways I wish the religious aspect was driven out of our country, the amount of state funded religious schools, for example. Also the massive tax exemptions they get.

When I was at High School they tried that at the exits of the assembly. Most people who took them promptly dumped them in the mud outside the door. I just walked very quickly past.

Not as bad at Uni, there's a few signs up promoting the Christian club, but I have more issue with all the Student Unionists and people selling the Green Left weekly (so communists).

I saw there's a Pokemon club though
Now there's something to believe in.

went out last night. quality game of "tell her" on the go. another missed opportunity with a girl (not my fault. for once.) then watched a mate play high stakes poker when pissed. strolled home about 8am, bought a newspaper when tesco opened and had a kebab for breakfast.

pretty standard stuff
