Shane Bond has retired from test cricket. Just heard it on the radio, so dissapointing. His muscle tear has taken longer than expected to heal and he will now only be available for ODI an T20 cricket:facepalm

Damn damn damn damn damn. What a performance to retire on too. All that bloody time wasted in the ICL.

So disappointing, his body just couldn't handle it.
It's not really his fault, I hope he can continue doing great things in ODI's and T20's.

It's a shame. You felt he was retiring after playing Australia also. Obviously he won't be fit enough in time so he's pulled the plug now. I think it's the right move. It's more important we have him for the world cups (T20 and ODI) over the next few years anyway)

Will go down as one of the great bowlers for NZ, second only to Hadlee. Even worldwide his SR and AVG are right up at the top of the lists with with the only thing setting him apart from most of the others being matches played. Still, take 18 matches from any other great bowler - he compares with them.

Can't wait to see him in the colours again hopefully against the Aussies.

Blackcaps fast bowler Shane Bond has announced his retirement from Test cricket - but will remain available for New Zealand in one-day and Twenty20 internationals.

Bond, 34, was forced to withdraw from the recent Test series against Pakistan after tearing an abdominal muscle in the first Test. After further assessment, medical advice is that the injury will require more time than expected to heal.

Making the announcement today, Bond said it had been a difficult decision.

A sad end to what could have been the greatest fast bowling career ever. I have never seen any now bowl bowlers swing the bowl in at such tremendous pace. He dominated Gilchrist when Gili was the best and in prime of his form. In his last test match he tormented the Pakistani batsmen and won the match almost single handedly.
I will miss watching him :clap

Sad to see, hes been a joy to watch over the past decade. He could have given Ponting some problems, now he will have to settle for doing it in ODIs.

Just thought to revisit this spell in lieu of this sad news.

A perfect example of being a class above the competition

Just to pimp my own youtube video which I stole off Sky:

Most is ODI though. Sucks there's not more test footage on the internet.

I really can't believe that catch stuck. Getting a hand to the ball was outstanding. Then in mid air to get it again on the back of the hand and hold it there with the other not dropping it on landing. Freakish. Don't even know who it is, research time. It's vs Indian right hander in Wellington. edit: Looks like it's Oram. Wow.
