PROTEAS GET FIRST WIN IN STICK TROPHY

South Africa pick up their first win in a very one sided match. South Africans look favourites to take the tournament after AB de Villiers made a captain's innings to win the game for the Proteas. Graeme Smith provided essential back up and played well as a right hander.
"It was a brilliant team performance and coach has really brought us together and we feel that we can become the best 10 over side in the world." said newly appointed captain AB de Villiers. Here is an overall summary of the match:

PROTEAS STRUGGLE AGAINST SRI LANKA

The Proteas played their second group match against struggling Sri Lanka and almost lost when wickets just kept falling. Graeme Smith fell first ball when he left a fullish delivery on off stump from Chaminda Vaas. Herschelle Gibbs then walked back to the pavilion when he was caught in the deep 4 balls later off Vaas. Captain de Villiers couldn't do anything about his dismissal. An absolutely incredible seaming delivery hitting his helmet and making him crumple onto his stumps, a beautiful ball from Malinga on what was a very slow pitch. Kallis dragged on against Muralitharan after a fantastic innings of 78 from 19 balls. Boeta Dippenaar finished Sri Lanka off with 12 off 2 balls and a strike rate of 600.0. The highest strike rated player in the tournament so far.
