I don't know the stats but I have always felt Warner struggles with red ball cricket outside Australia. Don't ever remember him making an impact in India vs India or England vs England. I might be wrong but I don't remember myself ever going "How are we going to get Warner out?"

Against India in India he has just scored a couple of knock of substance. Just a couple in 16 innings ! One of which was a 60-odd in Mohali that was on the flattest of pitches way back in 2013 where Dhawan scored 187 on debut. The other being a 35 odd that was scored at Bengaluru back in 2017 where Australia were chasing 189 and eventually the Aussie batting line-up skitled against Ashwin.

In England you are absolutely spot on!

I'm not sure that I can see how that helps...

They said that Denly played most of his early career as an opener, and opened in the Caribbean before being replaced by Jennings.I suppose if Roy isn't going to be dropped it's the only thing we can do.

Oh I have no idea what to do to resolve the current issues. But reshuffling the current crop doesn't seem like it'll be helpful either. We just don't seem to have a consistent test match batsman anywhere right now...

I think it would be a good decision for Denly to be moved up to open, and Roy can settle in at 6/7 to score quick runs. Bairstow should be promoted to #4, or since England love dropping him lower than where he should be, Stokes could bat 4 and Roy at 6. But I don't personally feel that Stokes should bat 4 while Jonny's down the order and can fit anywhere in that batting order.

But Roy needs to get out of that opening slot. He's looked clueless against the new ball and Denly showed some grit and looked good at Lord's which makes him perfect to see off the new ball with Burns. Root is coming out way too early than he should be in any case.

Oh that's a major issue no doubt, him coming in after 8 balls or so all the time, might as well open the batting the way its going right now

Tbh Bairstow has got a poor technique and can't actually put his hand up to survive for longer periods on the crease. Previously he was a great batsman in all forms of the game but the increased number of limited overs Cricket has impacted him in this way that he would always struggle against the moving ball.

Warner really needs to find form, his problem has been that he got defensive which just isn't working for him and it's disappointing to see him perform this bad. And you just can't rely on Smith every single time, other batsmen have to step up for Australia.

Warner, Bancroft and Tim Paine have been much much worse.

Bancroft situation is a bit like Denly, Bancroft will probably be picked for his short leg fielding, Paine's captaincy has been pretty good and wicket keeping is pretty amazing. Problem lies with his batting, clearly they've worked that he cannot play a short ball. Warner is probably a psychological issue, lacking his aggression that he is successful with.

Shame for Smith as you want to compete
against the best and he is the best. Wish him well. The twats that boo are a bunch of cowards who would utterly shit themselves at the start of Archers run up and leak shit as they ran to the pavillion as he reached the bowling crease.

Nah, I reckon Ian from Birmingham who's had 7 or 8 pints would do well against an 90mph+ delivery aimed at his head...
