The News Thread

oh my... I was just looking at zaxotes new bats, and he mentioned that mihir has passed away, i am shocked, my thoughts are with him and his family. :upray

does anybody know what happened to the young man, to die at such a young age, it must have been a freak accident.

From what I know he was hit by a drunk driver. Its beyond tragic.

I guess that explains it but it does not justify it. I think this is a dangerous precedent, especially letting young kids read Mein Kemp. Hitler's writings can be very persuasive to impressionable minds.

As for people having keychains and other things with his photo on it, thats just plain disgusting.

Really out of the blue this article, especially considering that India is one of Israels allies in that part of the world.

Fair enough, but tbh, I personally feel that those who get negatively influenced by reading Mein Kemp are generally people who are clueless about History in general.

I've read Mein Kemp myself, and I'm young- but the book didn't impact me adversely in any way. I just treated it as an insight to the mind of one of world's most loathesome personalities ever. I'm sure you won't find too many persons here like the 19 year old boy mentioned in the link who 'respect and admire' Hitler.

I think the reason why Mein Kemp is fast disappearing from the shelves is because people are curious to know more about the character, his life and the tumultous time in general from as many sources as possible; doesn't necessarily mean they are pro Nazism. We can't obliterate the fact that there was a evil genius like Hitler who once had the whole of Germany falling to his feet- and to know more about him from different angles, from different perspectives might actually aware the public against his ideologies.

And for the record, the film 'My Friend Hitler' stands cancelled as of now.

Im not worried about you reading Mein Kemp, you are obviously intelligent. I am talking about the majority of people (regardless of country) who read books/media and mistake opinion for facts.

Glad the movie was canceled

it's shocking if the story of the drunken driver hitting mihir is true, he was a very loyal member of many of my leagues, and my thoughts are with him and his family.

India's new currency symbol puts rupee in the money - CSMonitor.com

How can you just change a currency symbol. I don't see anyone changing the $ sign

India didn't really have one before so you're not changing it you're introducing a new one...
