It's been quite a while since my last draft, and I think it's probably overdue that I did another one. Thus: The No Ducks Draft.

We will be selecting Test teams and there will be only one rule: nobody you select can have ever been dismissed for a Test duck. That gives us a motley player pool of 886 players, none of whom has played as many as 25 Tests. Despite this, there's still definitely enough of a selection to build some decent teams.

I'll take Bob Appleyard, who was a one of a kind bowler, and sticks out in the list of spinners that could bowl fast

I see I've had an influence on you all; you love to see it.

:saf: :bat: Barry Richards

Tests
- 508 runs @ 72.57 (2 centuries, best 140) in 4 matches
(inc. WSC) - 1062 runs @ 75.86 (4 centuries, best 207) in 9 matches
First-class - 8506 runs @ 54.74 (80 centuries, best 356) in 339 matches

Quite possibly the best and most dominant batsman since Bradman. If he had been from any other cricketing country, he'd have enjoyed a 15-year Test career and thrived; instead, his globetrotting career saw him turn up and dominate for various domestic teams and occasionally World XIs, but only briefly for South Africa - they rightly consigned to the sporting dustbin until the shameful Apartheid policy was removed.

I have seen no suggestion that Richards ever echoed the views of the South African government of the time.

The posterman of the Planet Cricket Drafts… Ajay Sharma comes into my team

For the second pick, I go with the spinner who should’ve debuted for England by now, if he is eligible.
Simin Harmer

:eng: :bat: Duleepsinhji

Tests
- 995 runs @ 58.82 (2 centuries, best 173) in 12 matches
First-class - 15,485 runs @ 49.95 (50 centuries, best 333) in 205 matches

I probably should be picking some bowling talent, but Duleepsinhji was one of the great unfulfilled batting talents: his first-class career was restricted to only eight seasons due to constant ill-health including lung condition that ultimately ended his cricket career as a 27-year-old and the heart disease that ultimately ended his life at 54. The Duleep Trophy competition was promptly inaugurated in his honour, and has been contested ever since.

Aislabie sniped both picks I was going for but still am happy to pick Walter Read who was one of the best batsmen in his time. 22k FC Runs in a career that ended before the 20th century is incredible and is a stat that describes him well
