South Africa must be on their feet now especially after their comprehensive victory over the hosts, India in the first match of the series. Now they face off Australia which is going to be another exciting ODI as Australia are gradually climbing up the ladder to be the worls's top team whearas South Africa are the current No.1 ODI team in the world. So, lets get down to the match

Pitch Report:

Shastri says "This pitch is flat and dry and should be a hard time for the bowlers. The ball will come on to the bat early in the match. however, the wicket might deteoriate as the match progresses and can prove a challenge to the team batting second. So, win the toss and bat first!

Toss:

Mark Taylor and Cronje are at the toss. Taylor calls Tails but unfortunately, Heads it is!! Cronje again makes a surprising decision to bowl first. Here is what Cronje had to say "We batted second in the first ODI against India and won even though many suggested we should have batted first! We have a very strong batting line up and we fancy our chances here too". Taylor says "Again, Hansie has relied on his previous luck against India. We hope to take full advantage of this and prove him wrong".

Oops.. South Africa get defeated!

Australia defeat South Africa by 55 runs!

South Africa 217 all out
A.Hudson 56
G.Kirsten 38
B.Hogg 3/38 (10)

In an exciting clash of two top sides, Australia have emerged highly successful in defending their formidable total of 273 to win this contest against South Africa by 55 runs. South Africa could make oly 217 in reply to Australia's 272. At one point when Hudson and Kirsten batted, it seemed like South Africa might finish the match in 45 overs. But Hogg applied the brakes and eventually led the South Africans to make mistakes and bowled them out for 217. Hudson top scored for South Africa with 56 while Kirsten played a painstaking 38 off 96 balls. For Australia, Hogg picked up 3 wickets for 38 runs.

Third ODI - Preview

Third ODI - India vs Australia (D/N) at Bangalore

Match: #3
Teams: India, Australia
Pitch: Dray, flat batting track

M Chinnaswamy stadium, Bangalore
bangalorestadia5so.jpg

Day Three promises to be another exciting contest between India and Australia of the Titan Cup third match. Australia will be going into the match as the favorites due to the fact that they have beaten South Africa. India on the other hand have suffered a defeat at the hands of South Africa and would be lying low at the moment. This match would be very important for them if a defeat here would make things even worse.

The wicket as usual is the centre of debate here at the Chinnaswamy stadium. The track, according to the curator, is expected to be a flat batting wicket with no help whatsoever for the bowlers. but the wicket could deteoriate as the match progresses leading to increases spin and lower bounce making life tough for the batsmen under the lights.

Australia have announced their final XI. Micheal Slater is replacing Stuart Law in the final XI. India on the other hand, have not made an announcement on their final XI which they expect to make on the morning of the match tomorrow.

An exciting and thrilling clash is expected between these two countries at Bangalore! Stay tuned! The match will be a Channel Nine Australian Broadcast!

Tendulkar opts to bat first on batting track!

India bat first at Bangalore

Ravi Shastri: Welcome to the Chinnasamy stadium for the third match of the Titan Cup between India and Australia. The atmosphere is intense and befitting of an exciting clash between two top world class sides in one day cricket. India are one of the most exciting teams in world cricket and who can beat Australia to that 'exciting team' tag in world cricket? Before the match gets underway, we have amongst us two reputed former cricketers from India and Australia, Allan Border and Kapil Dev. Hello gentleme

Border & Kapil: Hello Ravi, good afternoon!

Ravi: What do you think of Australia's chances today Allan?

Border: Australia having beaten South Africa in the previous game must already be oozing lot of confidence in them. South Africa are one of the best teams today in ODI cricket and beating them certainly would lift the confidence level of any team.

Ravi: So Kapil, how do you rate India's chances today?

Kapil: India did not play well in the first match against the Africans. They were guilty of throwing away their wickets when well set. And their bowling was torn apart by Kirsten and the other batsmen. They must be low on confidence but they are a fantastic team and cant be written off

Border: I agree with Kapil on that! India cant be written off easily. They have some really exciting players who can turn the match around easily. And they are led by a matured young lad, Tendulkar.

Ravi: What do you guys think about the recent developments on Indo-Australian cricket? The Border-Gavaskar trophy being initialized and lot of cricket being played between the two countries?

Border: Yes. I am very happy that my name is associated with a new found cricketing relationship between these countries. It rally augurs well for the game and since these two countries are top cricketing nations, the battle will be more intense and exciting

Kapil: I agree with Border too! India-Australia is always an exciting affair! They have had the closest of matches and what better example than the tied test in Madras? This new cricketing relationship would further intensify the battle between the nations.

Ravi: Thanks Gentlemen. Now we get down with Arun Lal for the pitch report brought to you by Asian Paints

------------------------------------

Asian Paints Pitch Report

Arun Lal: The pitch looks flat and dry and is going to hold up for most part of the innings. Its a perfect batting track with no help whatsover for the bowlers. The bowlers will have a very hard toiling day on the field. However with the pleasant Bangalore evening weather, they can somewhat get cheered up that the sun wont play too much of an adverse effect on them. And since we might have cool breeze in the evening, the ball might swing a bit in the night conditions which might favor the team batting first!

pitch7se.jpg

-------------------------------------

Ravi Shastri: Thanks Arun. Looks like the batsmen are going to have a good time out there in the middle.

Lets now get down to the toss with Tony Greig and the two captains, Tendulkar and Taylor. The toss will be adjudicatd by match referee, Ranjan Madugalle. Tendulkar calls Heads. Taylor tosses the coin. AND HEADS IT IS!!

toss8fb.jpg

T.Greig: Congrats Sachin. What would you like to do?
Sachin: We will have a bat first. The wicket is flat and dry and should suit the batsmen better. We hope to post a big total on the board to put pressure on the Aussies

T.Greig: Any changes in your team?
Sachin: Saurav is not playing due to a side strain. Robin Singh comes into the team in his place. Sidhu and myself will open the batting attack.

T.Greig: Thanks Sachin. Your thoughts Mark?
Mark: Not a good toss to lose. But still, being a world class team, we hope to restrict India to a paltry score and chase it down easily.

T.Greig: Stuart Law is down with flu and will be replaced in the team by Micheal Slater. Mark Waugh moves down the order to make way for Slater at the top along with me to open.

T.Greig: Thanks Mark. So gentlemen, India win the toss and elect to bat first!

Here are the team line ups for India and Australia:
lineups6ax.jpg

---------------------------------------

Ravi Shastri: Good decision by Sachin. India should not be happy with anything less than 270 on this track!

The players are onto the field and the batsmen are being cheered into the ground by the spectators. The ground is almost full and one is expecting an electric atmosphere throughout the match. The batsmen taking guard and its now time to start the proceedings in the commentary box with Greig and Border at the hotseat! And an important note, the series from now on is going to be sponsored by TVS Victors.
