irottev said:It was a shocking decision but not the worst ever given as Nasser stupidly opened his stupid gob saying. It was a very full ball so it was extremly hard to pick up whether it was moving in or not. Also the batsmans movement down legside probably helped put him off. I think that the umpiring ive been seeing over this ashes and natwest series has been top notch. All the umpires involved have done a great job.

Sureshot said:Just one more thing, Can Taufel umpire in the Ashes? Or can't he as he is Australian.
It works both ways, what about the dismissals of Bell and Pietersen who shouldn't have been given out.
Imo Dar and Bucknor/Venkat should be the umpires for the next test.
to be honest England would have won the game by more than 50 runs had some decisions not gone against them as well.kalyan said:Ya, i agree. that decision was shocking and cost Australia the match.

m_vaughan said:Every indian fan (including myself) will only have -ve feedback for steve bucknor.
But I think the whole world accepts the fact that he is a very good umpire who has probably made a few mistakes in matches involving india.
ZexyZahid said:Steve Bucknor is a very good umpire. That he made one or two mistakes in India doesn't make him a bad umpire.
Aleem DaR, and not Aleem Da, made some good decisions in the first Test. Billy Bowden is also very good and when he was young people where laughing about his umpire gestures. I don't have seen much of Simon Taufel.
Here is the ball in question:
49.4 Lee to SP Jones, no run, full, straight, bang in front of the
stumps, Jones has not got a clue and pads straight up. He's on the
back foot. That is absolutely plumb to the whole world - minus
Billy Bowden
That is an absolute shocker of a decision from Bowden. Ball was
hitting middle and Simon Jones wasn't even playing a shot!
End of over 50 (18 runs) England 180/9 (lead by 279 runs)
Eventually England got 182 runs. So that decision was crucial.
