I thought it was bad enough in football but at least there you have the crowd noise being contextual. Hearing no reaction but just the usual ambience to the wicket and boundaries made me just laugh.

Yeah, at least have cheers when a boundary is hit or a wicket is taken.

The thing where England doesn't inspire confidence at all is they have got all the guys who can score 60-70 runs on good batting surfaces and fail to convert them into big scores. And it is even more surprising to know that a class player like Joe Root comes in that league as well. Things get worse when the opposition bowlers start dominating them. There is no X-factor or not even one player who defeats the odds and comes out on top. Even players like Alex Hales and Adam Lyth performed better in their initial days which was under Cook I guess. Only player who seems dependable is Ben Stokes. I just don't know what these guys will do with the ball in hand when bowlers like Broad and Anderson will retire. The future just looks terrible right now!!
