Haven't had one for ages. Now if I'm nervous about somthing the next day I tend to not sleep at all it seems.
According to my mate, who after seeing this thread i had a long talk with about this kind of stuff, the older you get the less likely you are to have nightmares, or atleast they are less frequent due to other things being in your mind.
When you're young, or even my age 17, you tend not to have as much pressure on you, or as many things to think about therefore your brain finds memories from the past, like my main bad dream is when my mate died when we were 15, and the less i have to think about when sleeping, the more likely it is to come forward in a nightmare.
If you have any nightmare problems about your personal life, the main thing to do is to talk to someone about the dream AND the personal problem which is causing the nightmares. Secondly, you have to make sure you mind is on a totally opposite thing when trying to sleep. Usually i think about cricket and what not, or what im doing the next day, but on occasions ill be too tired to do that and i tend to have nightmares so yer it does work.
