Will spin really be important in this tournament?

Umm, ok. It's dumb to draw a conclusion from the WU matches.

I don't know about that but your conclusion is based on 5 overs :facepalm

Based on my knowledge of the grounds due the matches i've seen @ the venues in the past:

- Guyana will definately help the spinner. The recent Windies vs Zimbabwe ODI series proves that fairly conclusively.

- Barbados probably will not. Its is still potentially the quickest wicket in the caribbean. Plus given that the ground is pretty short square i reckon spinners could go the distance here.

- St.Lucia is a bit of an unknown i think. The pitch is usually fairly batsman friendly. So gut instinct tell me intially we may have high scoring games & as the tournament goes on, it will become spinner friendly.

So overall yea spin will be really important.

I see you left out Nathan McCullum(3/25 off 4 overs) and George Dockrell (3/24 off 4 overs) Did they mess up your point too much?

Btw team batting 1st won all the matches today. Except Aus, scores were below per for 2nd innings. Shows the slowness of the pitch

How does it show that? It has only been 4 matches and just because the teams batting 1st won doesn't mean anything.

BTW just because the pitch is slow doesn't mean the spin bowlers will benefit and the pace bowlers will not. Look at the bowling figures again.

You're manipulating the statistics. You need to show every bowler who bowled today to get a fair analysis.

Fine I'll do that for the WU matches, but Cricinfo will provide the statistics once the real matches begin.

Spinners have a lower economy rate and average.

This is only for international players mind you. I didn't include the WI domestic teams.

It's overs - maidens - runs - wickets - E/R rate - average(for totals)
