Amazing achievement to win the tournament with just seven players.

I understand why it was the case but it's been the one thing that has been a major drawback of this tournament, all teams had at least one player who contributed neither with bat or ball in their XI and were just a passenger akin to the domestic sides in SA trying to circumvent quota restrictions. I hope this changes in the next couple of years and these players develop to become important parts of their teams.

Mumbai deserved the win though, their auction strategy was great and they've been very consistent throughout the tournament.

Also this match proves that India would have more ICC trophies if they had one good player who would have stood up with Harmanpreet during all of their collapses. :spy

This post match stuff is a lot more relaxed and better than the corporate PR filled crap in the IPL and international tourneys. Pretty wholesome stuff with Ishaque and especially the stuff with how full tosses were weirdly effective. :D

It will change, it's a reality of moving into a new level of professionalism. Players will have learned a lot that they will take forward and become better, the incentive of an IPL deal will push others to improve and new players will come onto the scene (women's players often develop much quicker than men too).

They could've allowed one more overseas player, which would've added to the quality. But that'd have meant the experience - even if it's only getting to occasionally bat or bowl and being in the field in front of the big crowds from a young Indian player.

Nobody bothered to bid for Chamari or even list her for the accelerated auction.

Absolutely embarrassing decision by everyone all around.
But RCB picked up Kate Cross who can't get in England's squad. Played her first T20Is in four years this summer when she took 0 wickets while England lost to Sri Lanka.

Crossy is great (skilful, experienced can bat a bit), and could probably do better in the WPL than The Hundred or internationals, but come on RCB. :lol

Absolute horror of an auction. WPL- should refrain from this mechanism and embrace the 'draft' system.

Not too surprising, considering the likes of Riley Meredith became IPL millionaires

Marketing plus she is not from Australia & England - wasn't selected for Hundred, got called up to BBL as a replacement & killed it - not selected for WIPL :/

Think I saw a picture of Ganguly involved with one of the teams at the auction. A guy who, a couple of years ago, was saying girls shouldn't play cricket.
Abdul Razzaq, Shahid Afridi & Ganguly = Sexist *****.

Looks like a lot more England players (and coach) could withdraw due to a clash with a New Zealand tour. Supreme scheduling from the BCCI.
The tournament draw isn't supposed to cater to everyone's needs. It is a BCCI domestic tournament. Players can move in/out as per their national duties demand them to.

BCCI will schedule it as per their own wishes. English players not being a part doesn't degrade the league.

Surprised that the English still believe they are supreme, after all these years!
