ABOUT

The World of Cricket; often and simply known by its acronymic name (WoC) is a reboot of Aislabie and VC the slogger's famed Cricket Dynasty idea.

It is undoubtedly the-most complete fantasy cricket league ever incepted on the forums.

In WoC, you create your own player likeness to take charge of any country in the world! You are then also able to build the national squad of that country in exactly the manner you choose. Every single player in your squad will be a blank slate, to whom you can add attributes as you please. Not only do you manage your nation's squad, but you also oversee their entire infrastructure. You can arrange bilateral and multilateral international tours against other countries. You can band together with other nations and form a confederation to run your own regional and/or continental tournaments (officially sanctioned by the league). You can place hosting bids on global multi-national events with semi-complete autonomy over the fixtures. You can choose to set-up a domestic cricket infrastructure within your own country to unlock a much, much larger pool of players, build additional home grounds to use in international cricket (as well as boost hosting bids), farm an unlimited number of upgrades (entirely applicable in international cricket). And much, much more!

You can be one half of a

In the World of Cricket, you can write your own history! But... Can you build a Cricket Dynasty?

NATIONS

Your main objective after signing-up is to oversee an international side the same way you would any another team in a simulation league.

Given the nature of this league, you have the ability to choose literally any nation in the world! You don't have to worry about their real-life status in cricket one bit.
There are however, some lines that need to be drawn. You may not choose a historic nation, or one that doesn't yet exist in the year we're in.

Signing-Up

Upon sign-up, you'll be sent a blank sheet of fifteen names and you'll be asked to create every single player in your national squad by using the Player Creation form.
Not only will you have the opportunity of leading your nation to glory, but also of ruling the cricketing fraternity by creating your own player likeness - should you choose to.

Your Task

Once you've completed your sign-up, you'll be tasked with posting the lineup of your international team in any and all international matches.
Your other very important task will be to arrange matches for your international side in the ongoing Future Tours Programme.

All international teams are required to arrange their own bilateral and/or multilateral series completely independent of the league - management will only sim games.
Your ranking in both formats as a result of the outcomes of those bilateral and/or multilateral series will determine your participation in international tournaments.

PLAYER CREATION

You are allowed player flexibility for your player likeness and your entire squad like never before! Build your own stars from the ground up and rule to the world!
Not only do you create your international squad, but you also have the choice of creating a player likeness of yourself and ascending to the stature of an All-Time Great!

Every player in the league is created using the form below; no sign-up is considered 'complete' until they've created their 15-member squad using this form.
You are given exactly 15 players as your entire squad; you can only unlock a larger player pool by setting-up a Domestic System.

Player Optimization

Player Optimization allows you to create versatile players using combinations of attributes and skills listed below.

Each player is allowed a limited number of attribute points determined by their skill-set. Additionally, you are given five bonus points to spend across your squad.
Bonus points break the threshold of each player's total allotment and allow you to create stars capable of reaching that next level!

Guidelines

- Players who play out-of-position will incur a ratings penalty for each position they move either way
- Rabbit is a tailender-only ability; it can not be assigned to anyone not batting at 9-11
- You can not select 'does not bowl' for bowling type and have a bowling style assigned to your player [or vice-versa]
- Spearhead and Magician are used interchangeably; one term is used for pacers and the other for spinners
- You need to have at least one wicket-keeper in your side, but you are advised to have two
- Fast / Wrist Spin are rated +2 points better than Medium-Fast / Finger Spin; for a complete ratings guide see below

Player Builds

- Each player is allowed a limited number of attribute points for their build; determined by the player's skill-set
- You will also be awarded 5 additional points for your entire squad; which can be used on a single player [if wanted]

Code:
    SINGLE-SKILL PLAYERS
     - Total points allowed per player [ 6 ]
     - For specialist batters, specialist bowlers

    MULTI-SKILL PLAYERS
     - Total points allowed per player [ 8 ]
     - For all-rounders, 'keepers
     * MUST bat in top-eight to be eligible
     * MUST spend in at least two facets (bat/bwl/field)

    BONUS
     - Bonus points [ 5 ]
     - Use them however you like

Player Retirements

Players can be retired from the league permanently on manager discretion; they will no longer be made available for use in international cricket.
They can still play domestic cricket should the manager choose to keep them around; but they will not be eligible for any kind of Upgrades.

Upon a player's retirement; the manager will be given a player sheet to create a replacement if they don't have a Domestic System to support their squad.
If they do have a domestic system in place; they can name a replacement straightaway.

New Players

During the creation of any new player (whether they are retired-player replacements or debutants from domestic cricket); the Player Creation form above will be used.
If you have Upgrades available; you can use them as bonus attribute points to mimic the additional points that are awarded upon signup.

Upgrades can also be used on existing players as attribute points to make them more versatile; and not just as Ratings buffs.

RATINGS

[ not to be confused with rankings (see below) ]

All official games in the league are simmed using Syedur Rahman's Cricket Simulator.

Player Tiers

:bro: < :slvo: < :goldo: < :purpo: < :blueo: < :redo:

Player Tier is the quality of a player and how they are rated in the simulator. Every single player starts out as a :bro: bronze-tier player (the lowest tier).
Only through Upgrades can they be upgraded, and they can be upgraded as high as up to a :redo: ruby-tier player (the highest tier).

Player Ratings

These are the number inputs for the simulator which can be emulated by anyone.
Needless to point out, batting ratings are wildly different than bowling ratings. That's just how the sim works with some 'magic' numbers unfortunately.

Players are only penalized in batting ratings when they play out-of-position (either way - promoted up the order or relegated down).
If a batter is configured as a Run Machine [5] who bats at 7-8; they will drop down to Hitter [4] if they move to 4-6 and Accumulator [3] if they move to 1-3.

* Ratings mentioned above are for Medium-Fast & Finger Spin styles; Fast & Wrist Spin styles are rated 2-points better; Medium & Slow styles are rated 2-points poorer.

Player Injuries

A system for player injuries is implemented to give this league somewhat of a realistic edge.
Following are the types of injuries a player can sustain:

c3pVZBa.png
Degree 1

* Can play with a 25% ratings decrease; 50% chance of developing a Degree 2 injury
- Heals fully after a one-game rest

* Can play with a 50% ratings decrease; 75% chance of developing a Degree 3 injury
- Heals fully after a two-game rest

Degree 3

* Out for one game; instantly made unavailable
- Can play one game early with a 50% ratings decrease upon return. Heals fully after a two-game rest.

GROUNDS

Home Grounds

Every country is assigned three home grounds by default to use as host venues for their international matches.
However; each nation can basically unlock a home ground for every additional domestic team they set-up in their Domestic System.

Without setting-up a domestic system; you can build additional home grounds through Upgrades if you so choose to.
You need exactly FIVE upgrades to build one additional home ground. Once your home ground is built, you may also choose its pitch type.

Pitches

Given the scale of this league, it would be hellish for me to change player ratings for all players nearly every single game to emulate different pitch types.
Therefore, there is no way for me to add additional pitches to the league the way I do with my other leagues. The only pitches available are the three default ones:

:bat::left: EXCELLENT - A batsman-friendly pitch. Great bowlers still likely to do well.
:ar::left: NORMAL - Provides an evenly balanced contest between all disciplines.
:bwl::left: POOR - Ideal for bowling. Requires hard graft but quality batters can still thrive.

UPGRADES

PGL51gy.png
Upgrades are a multi-facet currency - they can be spent on a player to make them jump-up by one tier; or they can be used to build an additional home ground.

Players

You may upgrade a :bro: bronze-tier player (which every single player is in the beginning) into a :slvo: silver-tier player by spending exactly one upgrade
Spending one upgrade will make your player basically jump-up by one tier - you need a total of FIVE upgrades to max a player out (:bro: bronze-tier >>>>> :redo: ruby-tier)

If you have upgrades available; you can also use them as bonus attribute points to mimic the additional points that are awarded upon signup.

Grounds

Apart from setting-up a Domestic System; your only way in the league to build additional home grounds is by spending upgrades.
You need exactly FIVE upgrades to build one additional home ground. Once your home ground is built; you may also choose its pitch type.

Availability

You can win upgrades via various means in both; international and domestic cricket.
However; upgrades won in domestic cricket are only eligible for use on your domestic champions.

RANKINGS

[ not to be confused with ratings (see above) ]

The rankings system in this league acts pretty similarly to the IRL ICC Rankings.
Team rankings for both formats are highly important as they determine a nation's participation in Global Events.

Player Rankings

All players are ranked using formulae that were devised by @Aislabie back in 2014.
All rankings are updated on the first of each month during the Future Tours Programme.

Team Rankings

Bilateral Series

— If the higher ranked team wins the series, rankings remain unchanged
— If the series is drawn, rankings remain unchanged
— If the lower ranked team wins the series, they move above their opponent
— If a team is playing their first series and draw it, they join one place below their opponent
— If a team is playing their first series and lose it, they join the bottom of the table
— However, teams yet to play an official match will still be ranked beneath them

Tournaments

In TEST TOURNAMENTS, matches within tournaments are treated as one-match series.

In ODI TOURNAMENTS, teams are ranked in the order they finish in that tournament, with the following caveats:-

— Teams cannot move higher in the rankings table than the highest-ranked participating team.
— Non-participating teams retain their ranking positions, unless a team ranked below them has finished above a team ranked higher than them.

Penalties

Teams that fail to play an official match (either format) in a calendar year drop down three positions in both formats.
During global events, a team that fails to submit their squad within the deadline gets replaced with the next best-ranked team.

To make sense of it in storyline, the rankings for both those nations are swapped.

DOMESTIC SYSTEM

Every single country is allowed and even encouraged to set-up their own domestic cricket system within the league.
To oversimplify, domestic cricket is league management within league management - therefore, it is completely optional for all members.

Here are certain criteria that need to be followed by all when they set-up a Domestic System.
* Your larger player pool and additional home grounds are eligible for use only after you've completed at least one season of any domestic league.

Players

All players that take part in your domestic cricket will be created by you.

You can also choose to rate them however you like, as using the Player Creation form is completely optional.
However, the official WoC Ratings are available for free-use.

You are allowed a maximum of 18 players per-squad for your domestic system.

You are allowed to have overseas players in your domestic squads; but there's a hard 2-player cap (per club) in place.
Your overseas players can be players you create by yourself too; you don't have to draft players from other existing nations.

Teams

There is a hard 8-team cap on domestic cricket, but it can be lifted by me under certain circumstances.
You can have as few as 3 teams in your domestic system; you are under no pressure to make it as grandiose as possible.

Your domestic system purely serves as a farm to your national side, as is the case in real-life.
Your domestic clubs can not be managed by other members/users on the forums.

Grounds

You can basically unlock an additional home ground for every domestic club you set-up outside of the default three.
You can also spend upgrades to build secondary or tertiary home grounds for any domestic team; all of which can be used in international cricket.

You can also control pitch types for all of your stadiums.

Upgrades

You are awarded a specific number of upgrades depending on the size of your domestic cricket.
You are allowed to spend your upgrades from running a season of your domestic league only on your champions, whether it is to upgrade players or to build grounds.

Benefits

Having a Domestic System in place is by no means a necessity, but having one will provide you with a great deal of benefits, as is the case in real life.

- Having a domestic structure allows you to have a much larger pool of players to choose from for your national side
- Having a domestic structure allows you to build additional homegrounds; which can be used to host international matches
- You will earn upgrades for completing each season of your domestic league; applicable to anyone in the squad of your domestic champions
- Even if you think you're national side is going through a lean period; you'll always have an infrastructure to ultimately better your national side
- You have the freedom to put in as much or as little effort as you'd like; especially for something that's optional to begin with
- You are allowed to use your own ratings; the WoC ratings will be enforced only when a player makes their International debut
- There is no pressure to make your domestic circuit as grandiose as possible; you can run triangular events and earn valuable upgrades
Drawbacks

There are certain drawbacks to it however, considering the amount of work required to set-up a valid domestic system.

- You are going to have to simulate all of your domestic cricket matches by yourself
- You're going to have to make your domestic players yourself; although using the player creation form is completely optional
- The smaller the size of your domestic structure; the fewer upgrades you'll be awarded
- You'll have to keep up with the FTP to make sure each season of your domestic league is narratively consistent timeline-wise
- You are not allowed to have external managers for your domestic teams; your domestic cricket is purely to serve your national side
- There is a hard 8-team cap on domestic cricket for the time being
- Since Twenty20 cricket doesn't exist yet; you can not run Premier Leagues or any other kind of T20 competitions

FUTURE TOURS PROGRAMME

The Future Tours Programme encompasses all forms international cricket (bilateral or multilateral) that is played in the World of Cricket.

Season

Each season of the league is a 4-year cycle culminating in the final of the Cricket World Cup.
Each year of the season has a separate Future Tours Programme dedicated to it.

Future Tours Programme

Every single match and/or tournament officially sanctioned by the league is organized into a cricket calendar of sorts.
There are three slots available for each week of the year; the international calendar consists of 156 slots per-year which can be filled-up with cricket matches.

A table is also put-up at the start of the season for categorization purposes only.

Tournaments

All Global Events have a predetermined window dedicated to them; no cricket can take place while these international tournaments are taking place.
These tournaments offer a higher number of upgrades for winning nations than bilateral and/or multilateral series arranged independently of the league do.

Each round of a tournament (global or self-arranged) takes up one slot in the international calendar.

Bilateral Series

Each member nation independently arranges matches against other member nations in a single year; the league is only responsible for the simulation of those games.
There are upgrades that can be earned from winning bilateral series, and member nations can also improve their international rankings to qualify for global events.

With only 156 slots available, there is a cap on nations for the number of matches they can play; they can not play the same opposition more than once either.

Each match in a bilateral tour takes up one slot in the international calendar; regardless of its format.
There are several types of bilateral/multilateral series that can be arranged by member nations:

GLOBAL EVENTS

All Global Events have a predetermined dedicated window in the Future Tours Programme - no cricket can take place outside of them when they are going on.

Tournaments

Teams can qualify for these multi-team events only through their international rankings for that particular format.
Multi-team events offer more upgrades than bilateral and multilateral series.

Host nations can earn a direct entry into the tournament; completely side-stepping their international rankings.
There are other perks host nations can enjoy when they bid and win the hosting rights for any international multi-nation tournament.

Hosting

At the start of each FTP cycle, a poll will be put-up to determine the host nation for each Global Event part of the that particular Future Tours Programme cycle.
Any nation can make a bid to host an event given they fulfill the eligibility criteria; which varies from tournament to tournament.

A bidding nation is immediately disqualified if they fail to cast their vote before the cut-off.

A nation may not host more than one Global Event in a 4-year FTP cycle.
Co-hosting between multiple nations is allowed; but the bid must be approved by me first.

CONFEDERATIONS

About

Much like a Domestic System; Confederations are user-managed entities which allow member nations to run their own competitions but at international level.
Confederations allow nations to play additional international matches outside of the Future Tours Programme with WoC-approved upgrades up for grabs.

Setting-Up

Confederations are formed when nations create an alliance; but to be an active confederation they need a simmer to run their confederation championship(s).
The simmer for the confederation is considered the storyline 'President' of the organization and is in-charge of simulating and managing all confederation-run leagues.

The simmer/president for a confederation can change and handover the duties of simulating/managing confederation championship to whomever will accept them.
All confederations need to be approved by me before they are considered 'officially recognized' by the league.

Types

Regional Confederation

Regional Confederations oversee the sport of cricket in a particular region.
They can not serve as World Cup qualification pathways.

Continental Confederation

Continental Confederations oversee the sport of cricket in an entire continent.
They do not serve as World Cup qualification pathways, yet.

Benefits

Confederations are a way of easing the work load for me, as well as allowing members extra international games that are exempt from the limitations of the FTP.
Not only do confederations provide extra international games, they also carry a larger number of upgrades available to be won in their confederation-run leagues.

Drawbacks

A confederation needs at least three members to have a WoC-sanctioned tournament which meets the eligibility criteria.
There needs to be an active simmer to manage the confederation; the league does not offer assistance in management for regional leagues.

Upgrades

Upgrades can be awarded in various types of tournaments by the structures below; approved by WoC Confederation Presidents:
Please note, each confederation is allowed exactly ONE tournament in a single FTP season:

* All continental confederations have a reserved window dedicated to them in the FTP calendar for their flagship event.

3 team tournaments

3 teams = 3-7 matches
2 upgrades for :goldo: winners, 1 for :slvo: runners-up

4 to 8 team tournaments

4/8 teams = 8-17 matches
3 upgrades for :goldo: winners, 2 for :slvo: runners-up, :bro: 1 for finishing third/being a semifinalist

9 to 12 team tournaments

9/12 teams = 8-17 matches
3 upgrades for :goldo: winners, 2 for :slvo: runners-up, :bro: 1 for finishing third/being a semifinalist

9/12 teams = 18+ matches
5 upgrades for :goldo: winners, 3 for :slvo: runners-up, :bro: 1 for finishing third/being a semifinalist

13+ team tournaments

13+ teams = 18+ matches
5 upgrades for :goldo: winners, 3 for :slvo: runners-up, :bro: 1 for finishing third/being a semifinalist

* DOUBLE ROUND-ROBIN format to only be used by a 3-team tournament

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This is where most important and informative user queries will live.

RE: PLAYER OPTIMIZATION

Q: Why is the Wrist Spin attribute pricier than the Finger Spin attribute?

A: Because it supports the IRL theory of Fast and Wrist Spin bowling being harder to bowl and play. And it isn't just a blatant attempt to jack up the price of having a proper pace-demon or a spin-wiz, both attributes are rated 2 points better in the simulator too. Much like how Medium-Fast and Finger Spin are rated 2 points better than Medium and Slow bowling styles.

RE: DOMESTIC CRICKET

Q: Do we have to create our own players?

A: Yes, yes you do. You do not have to use the player sheet available in the Player Creation section, since domestic cricket doesn't require anyone to adhere to a strict ratings guide. You can create, and rate your domestic players however you want.

Q: How are players in domestic cricket rated?

A: Domestic players are rated however the domestic league's simmer wants to rate them. There is a guide available for free-use, but it is not a Code of Conduct everyone must adhere to. The official World of Cricket ratings are implemented when any domestic player makes their international debut, as all international games are simulated by me using a uniform ratings system.

RE: FUTURE TOURS PROGRAMME

Q: How are International matches scheduled?

A: All WCC-organized events have a predetermined window dedicated to them within the 156-slot International calendar. Every other International game that takes place between nations is arranged by the members themselves. Bilateral and Multilateral series games are agreed upon by members via messages on the respective FTP thread, or even outside of it. The host nation has the ability to make changes to non-WCC events as well.

RE: CONFEDERATIONS

Q: How do I form a Confederation?

A: It's simple. You court in as many people from your continent as you can, and ask them if they want to form a confederation with you. Once they agree, DM me their names and I'll set it up. The 'President' of your confederation is the main match-simmer for your continental events and gets to decide on the tournament formats, names, hosts, fixtures, place in the calendar etc. They have the complete freedom of putting in as little effort as they can, and it will be completely acceptable. The only thing that is required of them is that they follow the WCC ratings guide I'll be sending over to them.

The acting president can resign whenever they please, and handover the duties to whomever will accept them. All games simmed by that simmer will be officially sanctioned by WCC. They will receive a reserved window in the International calendar, the games will have implications on rankings and therefore World Cup qualification, and most importantly, this will serve as another avenue to earn upgrades from.
