AI Patch: AVK2Love's Realistic Patch 1.0
Reviewer: zMario

Review Category: Test match Batting + Bowling, ODI Batting + Bowling
Summary:
I cannot see any time soon I will be using this patch.
The patchmaker has stated that there is more seam, swing, and turn, and there is. However, on a flat track, there is a bit too much seam, swing, and turn. While bowling, I find it difficult to get wickets, unless bowling on a completely Green wicket. While I like a challenge, I feel that if there are 20 maidens in a row, I should have AT LEAST 1 wicket. This is what occured in one of the matches I tested with this AI Patch.
Detailed Review:
I have heard of batsmen edging balls and they go through slips for four, and I have heard of the ball going over the fielders head in the slip cordon for four, and I have seen fielders drop catches. But never, have I seen a ball, where when defended, you edge it for six. If batting was this easy, then getting to 400+ runs in each innings in a one day match (As Australia and South Africa recently did) would be no problem! Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty difficult patch when it comes to batting and bowling, but thats just a bug that has got to be sorted out. Another thing I noticed, is I edged balls on full tosses and half folleys to slip. I don't think there is any realism in this. These are all the major bugs I encountered, but there are so many more, that I couldn't count them all. When it came to batting, I found that the shots were very unrealistic. A Backfoot Cover Drive went to through mid wicket. (This only occured once) However, there was some very good things to come out of this patch. There were more edges, as promised, but unrealistically. I also found, that if you were not fully settled, then there is no point in even attempting a six, even if it is the last ball of a One Day innings. Always goes in the air.
In test cricket, I could not get the ball away for four, and feel good about it. Unless I used the SIX HIT, or POWER button, it was VERY difficult to get the ball to the boundary. I had full confidence, and I saved the game. Going back to the nets, I played a few shots, and I was timing them perfectly, but noticed the ball didn't go far even in the nets. Surely somebody would donate me a boundary once in twenty overs? Not with this AI Patch. I opened the innings of 1 test match, with Shoaib Malik and Imran Farhat. The 50 run partnership came off of 325 balls.

: Even Inzamam and Mohammad Yousuf could not improve the run rate. I can take one positive from this match, I drew it  .
Bowling wise, in both forms, I could get in swing, and out swing, as stated by the AI Patch Maker. However, it didn't get me much closer to picking up wickets. Even the most deadliest yorker disappeared for four. I bowled good length balls, swinging away, and they disappeared for four, or on some special occasions, the batsman defended it. On one occasion, a toe crushing yorker went for SIX! Sigh, couldn't find much realism in this.
Bounce & Outfield settings:
The outfield is too slow, very unrealistic. The only thing that seemed realistic was the Green pitch, in which teams collapsed to around 180 at top. I actually chased it down too! Bounce is definitaly variable, which is a positive for this patch.
Autoplay:
The autoplay seems somewhatly realistic, giving me (in test cricket) scores of around 350, which I was pleased with. The run rate remained between 2.25 runs and 4 runs an over. In ODIs, I got around 250-280 runs for the loss of 7 to 9 wickets, which seemed quite acceptable.
Field settings:
No fields included. Used default fields.
Strokes:
No stroke file included. Used default stroke files.
Gameplay:
Pull shot) Unrealistic, always pops up in the air, and I didn't even attempt a SIX HIT!
Hook shot ) Goes straight up in the air with SIX HIT. I don't think you can play hook without SIX Hit,
Cover Drive ) Slow outfield when hit, goes straight to fielder on full confidence
Cut Shot ) With luck, I can get four runs, usually a single or 2.
Backfoot Cover Drive ) Can get 1 or 2 runs if ran quickly.
Flick down to fine leg ) Normal, good easy single. 2 Runs at most.
Flick through leg side ) If it goes in the gap, I can get two on average.
Straight Drive, On Drive, and Off Drive ) I'm lucky to get a single on this shot, let alone two runs or four!
Suggestions:
These are purely my opinions AVK, and I am hoping that this can be a help to you.
1. Spend more time making your AI Patch. It seems a bit rushed, with the way the ball reacts. Its a promising start, and could have been better if spent more time on.
2. Make your own stroke file(s) to compliment the AI Patch. I can bet money that your patch will be much better if you make a stroke file.
3. Make your own field files. Will work very well, if you try to make the AI patch, stroke file, and the field file compliment each other.
4. Edit outfield pace, and shot strength. This is a huge thing that has to be fixed.
5. Fix amount of edges to make it realistic.
6. Give the bowlers (when the human bowls) more chance of picking up a wicket. It takes hours and hours to pick up a wicket.
7. Fix the bugs I have already posted so far, and the many more you may find in your own testing.
Please note, these are entirely my opinions.
