How to play hook shot

Guys,
Plz help me in playing a hook shot.. I am not able to play that shot... the ball is not at all connecting to bat

You have to pick the right length (which is different for different pitches). Hooking on hard pitches is difficult. On wet, damp etc it's also hard.
As for the timing, well that's up to you to perfect. But I find it goes best when I time it about when the ball pitches.
