The biggest shocker of International Cricket in the past 3 years has been the unbelievable performance of MISBAH-ul-Haq since he returned to Intl. cricket for Pakistan. His repeated success with the Bat & a shrewd cricketing brain makes me wonder where the hell was this guy before & why was he not given repeated chances to shine while Pakistan continued to experiment with Faisal Iqbal,Y. Hameed & even Shoaib Malik ??? He has averaged over 50 in all forms of domestic cricket in Pak. for the last 3yrs. !!!

Below are his Stats in his last 5 matches :-

For Pakistan in Tests :-
82
45
161*
133*
37

That's 458 Runs at an Average of 152.67 in International TEST Cricket against Kumble,Harbhajan & Co. !!!

For Pak. in ODIs :-
40
55*
44
20
31*

That's 190 Runs at 63.33 in International ODIs !!!

For Punjab in Domestic Cricket :-
53
100*
64
161
208*

That's 586 Runs at an Average of 195.33 !!!

Those are no mean figures !!!

Comment on that. also,he's the New Pak. Vice-Captain. He'll be a huge threat for Aus. at #5 if they tour Pak.

I think he went to pursue his education in meantime. Thats why he did not play for long. He was unlucky that there were no slots for him earlier as Younis Khan, Moh'd Yousuf and Inzy formed middle order. They cannot have 4 batters with same style in lineup.

it was the persistent with all rounders like razzaq and afridi in the test team that he was kept out of the reckoning.

if pakidtan had played the 4 bowler 7 batsmen policy then he surely would have played

Leaving Razzaq and Afridi out is stupid decision. Afridi should reconsider his retirement from Test matches. Hes 90193209201920% better than Kaneria.

He has a full time job at a bank and has a Business Degree, that shows that the board doesn't pay it's players well enough.

Well Misbhal should have been playing for Pakistan from long ago..I am still surprise why did he not get the chance??
When I first saw him batting in 20-20,I thought he was only Slog-hitter but then in test series against India He has batted responsively and calmly..

I've gotten a couple of players who should be tryed again. The Pentangular cup is really bringing new faces out.

Wow, that is amazing. 2 centurys for the pakis in tests, a half century in ODI's and in domestic cricket 2 centuries and a double century. That is basically unstoppable batting.

Misbah is amazing, and if persisted with, he can still do great things for Pakistan in the short time that he has in his career.

He's just booked a spot in the team. He's extremely flexible and can be described a bit like Michael Hussey. I say we keep him lower in the order (5-6) so he can rescue us if there is a collapse.

Only a Ul-Haq can replace a Ul-Haq :p

Why wasnt this guy picked earlier? An average of 52 in first class and not picked? How can that happen.

Welcome to Pakistan Cricket.

But his time in domestic cricket has only helped him and Pakistan. He now knows how to bat and lead the team because he's been playing for ages.

He should have been picked 4 years earlier.

Someone should also look at Afaq Raheem.

Afaq has not done himself any favors in the recent Pentangular Cup. People like Nasir Jamshed and Salman Butt have scored runs everytime they went out. Afaq hasn't gotten a 50 if I'm correct. He's a good talent. He should be kept in the domestic scene for another year and then brought in.
