Well this is perplexing for someone with little knowledge of Indian law, though it does seem a bit of a fuss. If it's illegal and he broke the law then I suppose that he should be punished.

She ACCIDENTALLY stepped on the indian flag.....!

your point is valid if they make accusations like tendulkar cutting
an indian shaped cake or charging ravi shashtri for eating meat
just because hes a brahmin etc.......

but this is a shameful incident.....!! as a public figure, as an idol to
