ICL is coming out real hard! Its about time when ICC [aka BCCI] removes "UNAUTHORIZED" tag from ICL.

Loads of familiar names there. Tons of class players too.
Can't blame them, though.

This ICL is really taking the world by storm. They have, in essence, basically completed this parallel league just before there second(?) season.

People may say "You don't want to play for your country!" when they actually are, just in a different league.

They aren't playing for their country though, they are just a team drawn from Sri Lankan players. Same with Bangladesh, who I believe are called the Dhaka Warriors. Playing for your country means exactly that, representing your country's national team.

Playing for a Sri Lankan team in a rebel Twenty20 tournament isn't playing for your country.

why call them a rebel?? its the same thing as IPL!

except BCCI paying enough money to ICC to make IPL look better and making ICL bad! i support ICL because, in a way Dhaka Warriors will represent us. it will always be part of us. but in IPL? there are hardly any players playing in IPL from bangladesh. and only player whos in IPL was treated soo POORLY! why support IPL??

ICL all the way!:happy

It's a rebel league, fact.

It isn't supported by the ICC, cricket's governing body, or any of the national boards throughout the the world.

Wrong,The Sri Lankan board supports them.

I still think that ICL and IPL should be combined!:D

and why is it rebel?? when same kinda league can get away with doing the same thing?...

exactly....dont even argue...

It's a rebel league because it isn't condoned by the ICC, the ruling body of cricket. I would have thought that was pretty obvious.

If the ICC/BCCI tells someone to jump off a cliff...........

Actually, they have more then just the T20 tournament.
They have somewhat of a 'world series' where actual country teams (India, NZ, Pakistan, etc) play each other.

It is still a 'rebel' league, but you simply cannot blame the players from going there. These guys will never play for their country again, they have families to care for and money is an issue. When someone waves $200,000 in front of your face for playing a game you love and for 'officially' leaving the minuscule chances of playing for your 'real' national team behind, its hard to say no.

I think the point MacLovin is saying is that prehaps there should be a better word than "rebel"

By definition, yes, the ICL is a rebel league. But I think the word rebel has a negative connotation, which might be the problem. Prehaps one could say a "2nd" league? :p

I don't see any of the listed players as being regular parts of the Sri Lankan squads. Bandara was, but with the arrival of Mendis, he isn't going to have any chance to play.
