Who do you think are better role models for kids?

Cricketers by a loooong way. Cricketers IMO are more intelligent than football players and therefore have more common sense. Called me biased but Cricketers lso have a lot more respect for the Umpire/Referee than Footballers do (I.e, Footballers commonly use the the 'F' word whilst communicating with the Ref), However I admire Rugby players, such a sport and they still treat the Ref with respect.

Footballers are disrespectful idiots. Still, they are in the spotlight more than anyone else meaning they have more influence on kids these days and players like Beckham, Lampard have been good role models. They stay out of trouble off the pitch and perform on it.

Rahul Dravid because he's well educated and very calm on the field and rarely gets involved in any controversies.
VVS Laxman is also well educated and maintains his cool on the field.
Sachin Tendulkar, I think he actually went back to graduate as he couldn't earlier which I admire him for and he always sends positive vibes
Anil Kumble, just seems like a very smart and politically correct guy.

i think the best ever role model in the world of sport for us should be:

Sachin Tendulkar, because he is most well behaved cricketer, does not talk too much and practices in the nets daily....(keeping aside his name and fame)
...and endless qualities....

:hpraise

Nah I think its Brett Lee. Play hard on the field, But be friendly off the field.

Depends on the individual.
Mohammad Asif and Shoaib Akhtar aren't exactly people you would hope your kids look up to instead of Ryan Giggs or Paul Scholes. then again you wouldn't want your kids looking up to Joey Barton or Steven Gerrard instead of Tendulkar.

I don't like this horrible generalization that cricketers are more intelligent than footballers. How could anyone possibly know that for a fact? People like Frank Lampard and David Weir I knoe for a fact are fantastically intelligent. Yes you get the odd David Beckham to go along with these, but cricket has Shane Warne and he's so clever that he cheats on his wife every day.

As for the question, not all footballers are complete nobcheeses. In terms of my own club, Tim Cahill is seen as a role model in Australia and over here in scouseland because he never gets into any trouble off the field, he gives his absolute all on the pitch and he doesn't dive in two footed like the England captain or beat people up like Stevie G.B.H. Of course you get mongy footballers like those that want nothing but money and couldn't care less about their club or its fans (ie Ronaldo to some extent) but not every footballer is like this.

Whilst there appears to be more role models in cricket with the likes of our Fred and Brett Lee, you've also got the absolute nobheads like those two drug cheating mongy arseholes Akhtar and Asif and the adultery loving Shane Warne.

So my final answer is this; Every sport has it's role models and every sport has it's idiots. There is no definitive answer to this question.

Mr Cricket is much more behaved cricketer than Tendulkar

As a role model i will certainly go for Steve Waugh

Football players are WILD! Cricketer...most of them are ok..

Probably Michael Clarke because he has a hot girlfriend.
Not really. Her face would generally scare children. She looks like a circus clown.
