Civic Gardens murdered again
Civic Gardens are faced with members cancelling their affiliation with the club after they were destroyed by Pudlington in their latest match in the First Class League.
From the beginning the visitors showed a change of tactics by electing to bat first after winning the toss. Captain Fitzroy Boyd was humiliated by being caught behind by the opposition wicketkeeper, Tim Parry, on the very first ball of the game.
Only three batsmen reached double figures as Gardens were skittled for just 111 in only 66.5 overs.
Pudlington replied with three stunning centuries. Skipper Siyaguna Draheem rubbed his opposite number's face in the dirt by piling 193 off 222 balls. His fellow opener, Delroy Willie, built an amazing 234 not out off 304 balls. When Draheem was finally out, number three Geraint Boyle went out with the clear intention to chance his arm. His risk paid off, as he whacked 113 not out off an astonishing 85 balls, slamming 8 fours and 3 sixes in the process.
After a declaration, it took only another 76.2 overs for the home side to wrap up the win, rolling over Civic Gardens for another 149 runs, thanks largely to 60 from captain Boyd.
