Have just watched an episode of this series. It's set in Yorkshire UK in the 1960s and is usually about the local Police solving crimes. This episode however featured a cricketing storyline in addition. The local men's incredulity that a girl wanted to play in the village cricket team. She ended up being one of their best players....helping the team to a win over their local rivals.

Points of cricketing interest in the show was that ex test umpire Dickie Bird was one of the umpires (better umpire than actor)...and the two old Yorkshire fellers sat on the boundary in their flat caps discussing the cricket match were ex Yorkshire and England captains Ray Illingworth and Brian Close. Great stuff.
