    DBC14 PC Version 1.14

Just want to say that the recent patches (mainly 1.13) have really made this game so much better. The fact that I can now play strokes all around the ground without the ball staying in the air has a massive impact on my enjoyment. Really top stuff.

Career Game - Is It Possible To Opt Out of Foreign League?

Following-on with that train of thought (and something I have said before), but I'd like the option of continuing my International career only (if I ever get good enough to have one!) beyond age 36.

    AI Batting is too fragile

Simulating innings sees a lot of high scores. In the Pro40 cup scores above 250 in 40 overs are pretty much the norm. Somebody said that using the 'Get Best' teams is part of the problem, because the skills for players are too high and even though that should even itself out (people would...

And just again. I think I'm going to stop playing off the back foot from now on.

    Are'nt we over-estimating Don Bradman cricket-14?

Thanks. Should we bro-hug? :D The 360 degree movement - coupled with the pitch marker did make things pretty easy - the only challenge was getting the timing down. Once the pitch marker was removed it was a bit more challenging. The real beauty of the system though was that it allowed you the...

Pro. It's happened again since this morning, the player walked from leg-to-off (and ended-up walking passed the ball), even though I was pointing straight down on the LS.

And respectfully, that isn't really what I was getting at. I fully accept the foot movement builds and improves on other games; I also accept that the short timing window mixes things up and getting rid of the pitch marker introduces a challenge. But I wasn't referring to either of those things...

    Are'nt we over-estimating Don Bradman cricket-14?

Well firstly, I disagree completely about the batting mechanics being nailed. I've said in another thread (and have seen others mention similar) that I believe both Ashes 09 and IC10 let you properly pick gaps in the field and work the ball around the ground. I feel less control here, less...

    Are'nt we over-estimating Don Bradman cricket-14?

I have said before that I think it's the best cricket game out there, and I think that's undisputedly true. But I do think the game has some very big issues, I only mentioned the scorecard stuff because I believe that is a quick fix which would really help with immersion. The AI field settings...

    Are'nt we over-estimating Don Bradman cricket-14?

Whilst that's true for a number of things, nothing is created in a vacuum and there's no good excuse for such an awful scorecard. And it is awful; bowler's stats cramped into a wedge of the screen (and missing an important figure), it's ugly, 'Extras' are shown only as single number with no...

Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

I've noticed that there is often a little lag when the AI is about to play some shots, like the ball holds up for a little bit to allow the animation to play out.

What governs the player's automatic movement when playing shots? In the same over I just had three good-length pace deliveries aimed around middle stump all from over the stumps. All the same pace, no real movement. For each ball I attempted a back foot leg side shot (LS - Down, RS - Left). The...

    Are'nt we over-estimating Don Bradman cricket-14?

I can only speak for me, but I was never here to get any hype about the game as I didn't even know it existed until late last year, so I had no lofty expectations. I do fully appreciate that the budget doesn't compare with other sports titles, but I specifically mentioned 2 little things which...

    Are'nt we over-estimating Don Bradman cricket-14?

I'm really struggling to think of any way in which the batting controls are revolutionary. They don't feel massively different to other cricket games and, in some ways, offer a bit less freedom and subtlety than Ashes 09/IC10. As for bowling, I've only bowled in career as a spinner and whilst I...

Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

I didn't realise you could do that and so I had a look and saw that you can choose the which country's Summer you have so I figured I might as well at least see some of the other ground around the world and so now my English County Cup will involve 4 continents and a heck of a lot of air miles!

Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

I mentioned about the weather (or lack thereof) and its made me think about the career aspect, where I think I've only encountered rain once or twice in many many seasons. Part of the problem is surely that lots of games take place in Australian grounds for the English county season. I'd almost...

Don Bradman Cricket 14 General Discussion

This is excellent constructive criticism. I think you're right - that the game is more than the sum of its parts. You've covered many of the issues but I would add to that the lack of impact of pitch conditions, the lack of weather impact (the rain itself looks awful - Graham Gooch's Cricket...

    Scores in simulated innings

Yeah, I've mentioned that a few times in other threads and I think it's something that could use some work. It just is wrong to constantly see scores of 200-250 in the 1st & 2nd innings followed by 400+ in the 3rd and 4th. It's a problem for career games because, for a start, it means the team...

    Scores in simulated innings

I can appreciate the Get Best making all players a bit better (there are a lot of big hundreds at number 8, for example), but that would show as high scores all the way through, rather than seeing bigger scores in the 3rd and 4th innings than in the first 2 which is what I'm seeing.
